Paradyne 6381-A3-200 ADSL2+/R/Bridge/Router very slow

I have a 6381-A3-200 ADSL2+/R/Bridge/Router that is running very slow and not all the lights are flashing. The Power and Status lights are solid, the activity light has nothing, the LAN light is about half flashing and the USB also has nothing. Used to be fast up until a few weeks ago. Took to internet carrier and they said it was fine. Had my line checked on outside of house and it was fine as well. Only use my computer for research and surfing and rarely download anything. Have unplugged and rebooted. What do you think?

You don't -- the strength of the transmitter inside the unit is what limits the signal-strength out at 300 meters.

Instead, you need a "repeater" -- some people have built their own, using a Linksys router, and then reprogramming it with the free 'DD-WRT' software, and configuring the device as a repeater, rather than as an Access Point.

My company provided me wired internet using Paradyne 6381 wired modem. it works fine. I have D Link 2640 T wirelss modem + router available with me. Please advise me how do I connect available D link 2640...

Since your D-Link 2640 is a modem + router it may not work the way you intend.

You need just a wireless router without modem.

Run a small Ethernet patch cable from your Paradyne modem into the WAN port on your router, you can plug your existing Ethernet cable into one of the other LAN ports on the router, then access the router setup using the computer connected to the Ethernet cable using a browser and putting the router's IP address into the address line of your browser. It will most likely be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.

Once you have configured the Wi-Fi router you will have your wireless network. Full instructions should come with the router.

Routers are available for as little as $29.95 but expect to pay closer to $79.95 for satisfactory speed and capability.

Using both USB and Ethernet port to connect to the Internet

Hi; I have used it with both ethernet and usb connections at the same time. I have never used the bridge, but I use it at home.

Try this ( I have XP SP3): Right-click on the monitors where the clock is (lower right corner), select "Open Network Connections". Go to the LAN connection and r-click "Properties". On the "general" tab select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)". There you select "Obtain IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server automatically" then click "Ok" until exit. Either Shut Down or Restart the PC. Check if this work.
