The camera is charged. I turn it on and within a second, I get a zig-zag arrow with the letter A on the top left, instantaneously, as the camera turns off. Oddly, I am able to view the stored photos....the camera will remain on for that.
thank you.

Yes, because a zig zag stitch is creating a wide stitch and the tension on the thread is going to pull the fabric within the seam together, you can't seam thin fabric with a wide zig zag. It will "tunnel together". If you are using this stitch to neaten a raw edge, then try using the serpentine or three step zig zag where the needle pierces the fabric 3 times in each leg of the zig zag, this will give better results.
You might of turn the flash off by mistake through the back of the camera settings ? Look on top of the OK button on the back of your camera, there should be a Flash icon in the shape of a zig zag arrow, press on that and make sure the flash setting is set to AUTO, it might be set to OFF ?
hello, are you sure that you have not left your camera flash on,and virtually killed off the battery?as the zig zag icon usually refers to mostly flash related aspects of most modern cameras, all cameras need a certain base level battery power, before they will switch on for use,but may well display all manner of icon's and oddity's when the power is all consumed.hope that helps, cheers.
you start with the broad zig zag stitch bar across the top then you go down the left side using a smaller zig zag stitch then you make the the broad zig zag stitch at the bottom then you make the smaller zig zag stitch on the right side all the way to the top broad zig zag stitch & your done the right side zig zag does not go beyond the top broad zig zag stitch
There has got to be a selector of some kind on the machine. Usually it will be marked with symbols indicating straight or zig-zag stitch. You may also try varying the width of the stitch. The wider the stitch, the more pronounced the zig-zag effect.
on the top of the camera there is a button between the power button and the dial. that is the flash button. when you press it on the screen a zig zag arrow will appear. keep pressing the button until the arrow is crossed out.
confused here, is the phone network branded? i have the same phone as you but mine i unlocked and debranded and i cannot see no icon with a zig zag arrow only a green arrow pointing to the right which is for play now.
if you want to debrand the phone so you have the same as what i have got then read this http://forums.se-nse.net/topic/39748-tutorial-flashing-a2-phones-with-a2uploader/
the software version I am using is R1FA035
also if you want to unlock this phone google 'aerix'
The three front dials are as follows....left to right-Stitch width, type of stitch, and stitch length. The dial on the top adjust the top tension.
For straight stitch you want 0 stitch width, straight stitch, 3 for stitch length.
For zig zag you want turn your stitch width to how wide you want the zig zag, choose zig zag stitch, and choose how close you want the stitches to be on the stitch length dial. Practice on a piece of fabric. Usually for zig zag you will want to loosen your top tension a little bit.
THis problem occurred as I was sewing on Neoprene. I was using Gutterman all-purpose thread and a size 80 needle. Tried switching to a size 70, then to size 90. Still unable to zig zag. After inserting a test sample of cotton, the zig zag worked perfectly, so I knew it was not a mecahnical problem. I switched needles again. This time to size 90 for stretch fabric. Voila! Problem solved.
