The error may be with the file or the software you are using to open it. Try download a fresh copy of adobe reader and try copying the file again and opening it again.
Hi. You'll be better off downloading and installing the tryout for Adobe Indesign than PageMaker. InDesign is the improved version of PageMaker and it can open your old PM7 files. With your current PC specs, you can definitely run that software.
Try going to www.adobe.com and install the latest "Flash" update.
I trust you are on XP or Vista?
Some web sites will no longer work with Windows 98.
Also, make sure you computer is up to date. IE: Internet Explorer 7.
The "VBox" in this error is probably part of the 30 day trial protection mechanism. The error could be caused by trying to install the trial without being logged on with Administrator rights. Other possible causes: - Network time sychronization/correction software [XNTP, NTP, etc.] - Defective SCSI or Soundcard drivers that "Disable DMA" or make excessive use of "PCI BusMastering" to transfer data. A common problem on systems with Adaptec SCSI, Creative "SoundBlaster Live!", or "Aureal" based cards. - Piracy software that attempts to break the "30-day demo" limitations.
Hope this helps you,
George
