HTC Incredible freezing (it goes to the white HTC Incredible screen) while in the middle using an app. Power button will not power off. It seems to have a mind of its own. Eventually resets itself. No specific pattern as to the app (Surfing Internet, reading News and Weather, etc.)

I think I have found out the way to solve this problem! I think! Ok on my phone I changed the power settings. Go to settings>all settings(if on touch flo)>system tab>power>advanced tab> then uncheck the two boxes that says "turn off device if not used for". Hopefully this works because I don't want to trade in my htc for another phone. Try it out and let me know if this works for you or not.

  1. Turn the phone off, or pull the battery if the system is unresponsive.
  2. While powering on the phone hold the volume down button along with the power button.
  3. It should boot to the bootloader(white background and black text) I don't remember exactly what number the option is for factory reset but it will be in the list(either factory reset or reset phone) use the Vol +/- keys to navigate up/down the list and use the power key to select.

How to reset an adr6350 phone
Preferred Method
  1. From a home screen, select the applications tab (located in the lower left).
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select SD & phone storage.
  4. Select Factory data reset.
  5. Select Reset phone.
  6. Select Erase Everything.
  7. Perform Initial Activation/Setup.
Alternate Method
  1. Press the Power button for 3 - 5 seconds.
  2. Select Power off.

  3. Remove/replace the battery.
  4. Press and hold the Volume down key then press and hold the Power button for 3 to 5 seconds.
  5. When the HBOOT screen appears, release the Volume down key and Power button.

Some points on the screen not responding at all.
did you disable the weather app? or sense app? if so, it will screw the phone up like you wouldnt believe. Happened to me and HTC had no idea of how to help me....
Download the app "display tester" run it and see what it tells you... if that doesn't fix the problem then try another app, just search for"screen or display response" and surf until you find an app capable of troubleshooting and repairing screen.

If nothing works, order a new screen for your model phone and then google search "how to replace screen on htc incredible S" and there is a very well written guide with pictures and everything you need.

How do I reset my HTC incredible to factory settings?
Please note that all data will be deleted from the HTC DROID Incredible as a result of this procedure. This process does NOT delete data stored on the microSD card. We recommend backing up all of your personal data before proceeding.
  1. Turn the power off. If your HTC DROID Incredible is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
  2. Hold the Volume Down button
  3. Hold the Power button until the display turns on
  4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
  5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
  6. Press and release the Power button to select
  7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC DROID Incredible. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.

When i exit a app and go to home i get a white screen that says htc and then it starts to reload. how do i fix it?
Try this: From home screen touch menu then go to settings then privacy then factory data reset and finally reset phone. This will reset you phone and prompt you to activate it when it starts up. This will erase all of your apps but not your contacts as they are sync'd with your Google account. This should fix your problem unless it is a hardware issue. If it is indeed a hardware issue take it to Verizon.

Try to update to the latest android version. Your carrier might help you with this because it is so new. However if you dropped it (etc.) and your carrier doesn't replace it for you, You can get the part at Droid Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at Droid Repair Guide.
