I have a Canon Power Shot A720. Outdoor photos are beautiful. Indoor photos are always grainy/blurry...a lot of noise. I have tried the ISP feature but there are only two choices... 1. Auto or 2. High ISO Auto Either setting, the indoor photos are grainy. Further, there are times when my flash will not work. It won't work on Auto setting or when I try and "force flash" it. No flash and the photo will not allow a picture to even be taken. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Usually outdoor picture are good within small compact camera. They designed like that. But now your unit just have flash pcb defective. When flash function work, your picture will be good indoor. Regarding your flash unit would be brown fuse or replacement of flash unit. It is 50 and 50 chance. Your local repair shop would charge around $35 to 95 depend on what they really want to charge. Thanks and best regard!

Is there any dirt on the lens? make sure it is clean. if this is not the issue you will need to open the camera and make sure it is clean on the inside as well (I DO NOT reccomend to do this alone)

2nd
make sure to use rechargeable batteries ONLY
I reccomend using ENELOOP (by sanyo) or FUJITSU
make sure the batteries are made in Japan!!

To obtain a printed English version for the Canon Power Shot A72o IS

You have two options: Download the manual from here and have it printed and bound. Most office-supply stores will be able to do this. The alternative is to contact Canon and see whether they can sell you a manual.

I have a Canon Powershot A720 IS. The photos are never very sharp. They always come out slightly grainy and the colours are off. I have lost the manual so don't know if this can be resolved or not. Even...

The graininess of the photos would be due to an ISO sensitivity that is set too high. A good idea is to set it to "Auto". You can look through the menu and see if your ISO is set to 1600 or 800, that is too high for general use. An improperly adjusted white balance can make the colors look funny. You can set this to Auto as well, which will appear as AWB in the menu.
Try shooting in regular Auto mode.

The following has only just started happening - Still images are captured in a very grainy and washed way. Where as captured video footage is fine. Please help.

The Canon A95 has been known for taking noisy and grainy photos. Try using a low ISO setting of 50 or 100 to see if that helps. Using auto ISO or ISO above 100 will put more noise/grain in your photos. Also, always shoot in the best lighting situation possible. The more light the better. You can always improve your photos with good editing software too.
I hope this helps and good luck!

Outdoor photos mostly over-exposed.

take batteries out for an hour, this will reset to factory.  Give it a shot after that.

Sony Cyber-shot Digicams - Picture Quality !?!?!?

I'm assuming you purchased a Sony as replacement. If that's the case, take it back and ask for a new one or have it checked out. Something sounds horribly wrong to me. If by chance you got one of those Chinese/Taiwanese cameras. Give it away and go back to the P72. Of course, a few hours reading the manual and playing with the camera may solve your problems. Don't try to get fancy first off. Stick with Auto modes until you get a feel for what you're doing. If you are using Auto the go back to the first sentence :-) BMW
