First check the water collection bucket, to make sure it's properly seated and making contact with the safety switch. Also check the humidity level you have the unit set on. It may be to high for the humidity level in your house. Reset the humidity level to either minimum or if you have an LED screen 45%. Remember, the lower the setting, the more humidity will be removed.

To do an in home test of the unit, move it to a bathroom. Turn the unit ON and set the humidity level to it's lowest level. Turn the shower ON hot enough to generate steam. Do not turn the bathroom's exhaust fan on. As you exit the bathroom, close the door. Wait 15 to 20 minutes and turn the shower OFF. Allow the dehumidifier to run for several more minutes, before checking the water collection bucket for water. If you find any water in the bucket, it's working as it should. If not, it's time to replace the unit. Under most circumstances, I would suggest possibly repairing it. But, Fedders is out of business and replacement/repair parts are a scarce as hen's teeth.

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Have a dehumidifier, Delonghi DE500P. Unit operates but no water collecting in bucket.Level set to 35%. Can freon be added to recharge?

the short answer is yes , but id caution you on the need too first?

first check the basics:
bucket full lite not on (blinking)
filters clean ?
both fan and compressor inside running (sometimes the fan runs but the compressor does not?) listen carefull for them both?
if your unit needs recharged odds are it's not financial feasible to do so , first you have to fix cause of gas leaking out ? what ever that is ? then you need to add service ports and finally you need a gas charge , this would or could cost hundreds of dollars , a entire new unit is less 200 bucks unless you do all this work your self , but id tend to think if you had all the tools and knowledge to do that youd not of asked here in the first place

Unit keeps cycling off and on with the "bucket full" light blinking

It appears as if the water may not be flowing through the hose.
* When you use a hose the unit must be located near the drain. If the hose is to long the water will not flow freely and cause the water to back up in the hose triggering the bucket full.
* If the unit is lower or the hose runs up hill even the slightest incline will cause the water not to flow backing up to the machine
* Hose must remain flat and in a down hill flow to the drain if you are running a longer hose than recommended. If you are have a long distance to run the hose elevate the dehumidifieer by placing it on a stand, milk crate, anything that will hold the unit. Be sure it is large enough and strong enough to support the unit to prevent it from falling. This will help siphon the water from the unit and prevent any water to back up the unit.
* If your using an old hose make sure there are no kinks and water flows freely through the hose. Any kinks or type of pinch in the hose will cause the water to back up

I hope this helps resolve your issue. This is the most common mistake when using a hose.

Ihave a comfort aire BHD-301. when i turn it on the filter lite keeps blinking and the filter is clean. is there another filter besides the one on the side?

No, there's only one filter. So be sure that you reinstalled the filter properly, so that it is making contact with the filter switch. If that checks out OK, turn the unit OFF & unplug it for 15 minutes.
After the time has elapsed plug the unit in and turn it ON. Hopefully, during that timeout, the electronics reset and reverted back to the original factory settings, If so, you can now set the controls as you desire.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Compressor won't kick on

This usually means that the capacitor is bad and needs to be replaced, it is a small round device that is either near the compressor or in the control panel area, on the side of it, it will tell you the "MFD" rating and the voltage, and that is the two numbers that you need to match. Be carefull, with the old capacitor, if it is shorted it can hold a electrical charge, even with no power to it, and can zap you, not fun :)
If this has been helpful, please rate the new guy :)

The bucket full light is on and unit will not run. Unit has hose adapter in use.

Look inside where the bucket goes in at the top right hand side is the bucket switch. Hold it in and start the unit. If it runs the arm on the switch must be bent SLIGHTLY until it makes contact with the button and the lite goes out with the bucket in.

Amana D530M Dehumidifier won't run

We all appear to be in the same mess --Thanx Haier
This product says its Amana, but rest assured it is an Haier
The problem is most likely with the engineering design of the board. Im not an electrical engineer so be careful litning to me to closely :) There is only a half bridge rectifier on this board and 2 zener diodes that clamp down on the voltage. My guess on yours is the Zeners have been shorted and no longer clamping voltage down to aroun 24 volts for the low side of the board. I spoke with Haier and they have no schematics that state the zener specifications. They also said there was a 6 month backorder on ordering a new board. Oh and by the way if you want to order a new board and wait 6 months for the backorder it would cost you 75.00. All this jsut to repeat the problem again, because of bad design. O well ----- I wish products were not made better, so I wouldnt have to fill guilty about putting this in the landfills.
