How to set the clock on an Oster microwave model OGYZ1604VS. The instrutions listed in the manual Do. Not. Work!

To set the time display, the steps usually are to first turn off the microwave oven completely. Then power it on. Touch the "Clock" or "set time" pad and key in the current time. Press the set pad to lock the time.

1. Open door
2. Press clock/Kitchen Timer button the display will show "0:00" with the hour"0" flashing.
3. Enter the correct hour by turning the potary dial. Enter 1-12
4. Press clock/Kitchen Timer button the display will show "0:00" with the minutes "00" flashing.
5. Enter the correct minutes by turning the potary dial. Enter 00-59
6. Press clock/Kitchen Timer. The colon will remain flashing.
7. Close the door.

Microwave does not work at all. Shows "PF" in display.

"PF" on the display is an indication that your oven experienced a power interruption. Normally, the error code can be cleared by pressing the CLEAR/OFF button. You may have to reset the time. This is accomplished by pressing the CLOCK button, entering the time on the keypad, then pressing CLOCK again. If this does not clear your problem, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

If you press clock and nothing happens your keypad has shorted out and needs to be replaced. Try to unplug the unit one more time and try to turn the unit on again. If you have the same problem replace the control panel.

Let me tell you how to set the clock!

First, you press the clock button
Press the cancel button, the display will show 0
Enter the current time in 12-hour format ( this is very important as if you enter an invalid time, the display will revert to 0
Finally, press clock button again!

From the manual:

SETTING THE CLOCK - When the microwave oven is plugged into an outlet, the oven will display " 0:00 "

1. Press the CLOCK button; the hour digit will blink
and the clock indicator will light.

2. Press the number keys to set current hour.

3. Press the number keys to set current minute.

4. Press AM/PM to choose AM or PM.

5. Press the CLOCK button again; the display will
show the present time. After the clock has been
set, the time will appear with blinking colon,
unless the oven is cooking or defrosting.

NOTES:

- To reset the present time in the display window when the oven is off, press the CLOCK button and
reset.

- If you make a mistake when setting the time, press the STOP/CLEAR button.

- To recall the actual time while the oven is cooking or defrosting, simply press the CLOCK button
and the display will show the actual time for three seconds.

We are house sitting for friends. They have a Miele Classic, wall mounted combi oven. It has a single dial at the top left of the silver facia. To activate the microwave, I turned the dial one click...

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Let us know if the hard reset doesn't fix it.

If your keys do not work at all, you probably have a bad keypad, in which case I'd ask you to reply back. In the meantime:

I have a related problem, my Siemens microwave/oven as soon as I press the start button brings down the fuse. I put up the fuse again, the clock is working, the light inside as well, but as soon as I set the microwave on and press the start button, it brings the fuse down again. Is this a problem with the siemens microwave or with my electrical installation?

I'm assuming that model number is HVM1540DM1WW?

You have a failed membrane keypad.

On this model, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you could just order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad. In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.
It is part number WB07X11012 (a.k.a. AP3993720) and you can get it from the Pros here for $55.06 plus shipping. They're our favorite supplier. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order other parts & accessories by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes. Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame. Are you sure it's not Model # HVM1540DN1WW? Mine has an "N" in it, not an "M". My keypad quit working too - a few of the buttons still work.
