My emachine e627 screen is dark and I cannot use the computer. At this point I do not know what to do to be able to get it working again. This happens every time I turn it on, I was using it and all the sudden it froze and when I re-started the laptop the screen was dark and has remained dark ever since. It is no longer under warranty. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You're probably going to have to get someone to physically look at this for you. eMachines are notorious for having trouble sometimes. However, since you haven't described exactly what it DOES and DOES NOT do, it's hard to tell. Good luck! :)

Test burned CD in another drive after burning. I had a drive that did that just before dying. Also make sure the software if not set to test (simulate) only. gl

Could be a simply focus adjustment within the cam software that needs to be done. Or the cam is bad itself try adjusting the focus wheel as well. It may be out of focus. Usually the adjustment is on the lens turn it in or out. Try testing the cam on another computer close by see if it is working well on another computer. If not replace the cam. Try re installing the cam software and driver files. John

it should works automatically. If you go to my computer sometimes you'll find a WEBCAM icon: Double click to start your webcam.

Display dim is manufacturer defect. If it is LED, your LED LCD faulty.
If normal LCD, maybe inverter Board(Board that control brightness) faulty

I am assuming you have plugged the screen into a known working power source. You have pressed the 'on' button to turn the screen on and you have hooked up the screen to the back of the computer. What I need to know is if when you power up the computer if you see any text at all from the post AND if you see any lights on the front of the screen itself. (most all screens have lights on the front of them to tell you they are turned on, and most of the time the light is green). If the screen is on but is getting an orange or amber light that means something. Also if you see text or something on the screen initially but not in windows then it could be a resolution or driver issue.

The best way to check is to click on Start menu> right click on Computer/My Cpmputer> Properties> Device Manger and check if the webcam is listed in it. If it is listed then the computer has Web cam.

I have an emachines e627 and it has a webcam, because there are different models of the emachines e627. Most likely you have an emachines e627-5583, that model has a webcam. If you are trying to use your webcam there is a program that is built in called just go to "C:\Windows\Video Web Camera.exe". I hope this works for you
