After reading your response to my last question I called Philips. They instructed me on how to do a firmware upgrade. Well it solved the problem and now the led no longer blinks red 4 times. It stays green. I even had the tv working last night and went to bed a very happy man. I got up this morning and it turned on and the led is green. it even blinks when I use the remote but I have no picture and no sound. Any suggestions on this. Philips 42PF5321D/37. I may go looking for a new set TODAY.

I downloaded the firmware to my thumbdrive, turned the tv off, plugged in the thumb drive, turned the tv on (still no picture), the thumbdrive uploaded (i think as i could not see) The red light never came back, the green light stays on like usual. Only thing is, i still have no picture.... So weird! HELP, what can i do now?my picture died, and the light started blinking 4 times. Hello,
the 4 blink error I was assuming was a constant vs intermittent issue which is specific to ssb but based off the new information sounds like there was still an issue with the ssb as the firmware upgrade is specific also to ssb as microprocessor and eeprom are located on that board which stores that information. there is good probablility that the firmware was becoming corrupted with the intermittent issue and after the firmware upgrade must have become further corrupted and disabled the video and audio processing done on that board. it was logical to do the firmware upgrade though and no way to know that doing the upgrade would disable the set. hope this helps dan

Download the last Firmware-File from Philips and extract it. In the extracted folder is a file called execute.bin. This file must be moved over the Micro-USB-cable to the internal root folder. After a restart the photo frame should be automatically install the last firmware.
If you go to this website, http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=32PFL5332D/37&slg=en&scy=US
You will see firmware information on the right hand side of the screen. Please open and read the Firmware Upgrade Read Me file. These contain instructions and the update history of this model TV. Underneath the Read me file you will find the download link. You must follow the instructions in the read me file or you risk damaging your unit further.
This is from the read me: The set is switched OFF/shut down by itself after a few hours turning ON.
Suddenly, the sound for LCD 42PFL3605/12 dissapeared. Resetted to factory settings, upgraded firmware, but no result. The TV ran just 24 hours. Please, help!
Most likely you have the latest firmware on your tv. You can check the version somewhere in the menus but your problem most like can only be fixed by replacing the y-up and y-down buffers.
Here is what you need to do to fix this. Call Hitachi Global Storage Technologies & request for the firmware upgrade.
1-800-HITACHI (448-2244)
They will send it to you for free. You get a small SD card that plugs into the back of your TV just below the Cable Card Slot. I wouldn'd have known it was there unless the instructions in the mail packet told me so.
To determine if you need to upgrade go Into the Setup Menu. Then, Go to Software Upgrades & look at the software version. I had 0110.xxxx. the version I upgraded to was 0125.0000 & it fixed the audio problem on 7-1 & 11-1.
This model does NOT work well with HD boxes. I would double-check the Philips website, and upgrade the firmware for device since all 3 players were doing same thing.
Do you get the blue Led in the bottom left of TV. If yes send me a comment with the first 8 digits of the serial number. There is a issue with certain models within a certain date range. That can be upgraded with a firmware upgrade.
Check the firmware and if it is not BX23U-1.5.0.0_03531 go to www.usasupport.com and download the firmware onto a USB stick. If the sound still drop out replace the small signal board. .
call a tech let them check your tv if no power it will be the power supply or related circuits.if you have sound then it could be video circuit module.as you said that it dont have pictures you did not mention anything about sound.good luck
