The rubber casing has gone sticky - Praktica Optics

To remove the stickiness from you Snooper sat nav use a white none scratch saucepan scourer and Cillit Bang black mould remover. Use only the mould remover do not use any water. Use just enough mould remover o moisten the scourer to avoid getting liquid into electronics. It takes a bit of work to clean the corners and nooks and crannies. Protect the screen from damage while cleaning, the remover itself will not cause any damage to the screen. Don't put too much pressure on and the sticky mess will come off.

Did anyone have an answer to this? I have had the same problem. I like the opener, but the parts of the rubber surface that are not usually handled get quite sticky. Any thoughts on preventing this, or if not on removing the stickiness?

I would try wiping it down with some Goo Gone and see if that helps.

Unscrew the front of the speaker, hold the casing over a baking tray, repeatedly wash and work the thinners into the casing with a clean paint brush.This will gradually remove the sticky coating leaving the surface smooth and clean. Don't forget to wear rubber gloves.

check the power cord to see if it plugged in to the machine correctly
& if it is then something could be loose or broken inside, it needs to be serviced

Just cleaned mine this morning because it was so ridiculously sticky and dirty with great success with nail polish remover and cotton pads. Read this solution posted elsewhere but was worried about ruining the finish, and there are warnings on the bottle about not using it on plastics......but tried a bit on the back. Went very well and with a load of pads and alot of scrubbing, it came completely clean! No sticky residue left, no discolouration. Looks brand new!

did the lens get hot (closed in hot car)?- probably melted some of internal lubricant and /or adhesive on rubber rings or caused the rubber ring itself to start to deteriorate

The same thing happened with my old Praktica Sport Zoom binoculars, and (in my case) found that the sticky coating could be removed by repeated rubbing with paper towels moistened with methylated spirit ("meths"). SAFETY FIRST: If you decide to try this method and have not used meths before, it is a very flammable liquid, and harmful by touch and inhalation, so please wear rubber gloves and do this outdoors or in a well ventilated place and away from sources of heat or fire. That said, it is cheap and readily available from DIY stores, usually in their painting section.

It can be easily resolve, just go to the youtude, check for sticky melting solution. The sticky surface can be treated and back to normal.

The best and cheapest way I have found is to use 91% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol...put a little on a paper towel, cloth, or cotton swab and rub the stick stuff off. I would also suggest putting on rubber gloves to keep the black stuff off your hands. Have fun.
