Sony projector vpl ex5 yellow display problem

1,Check the fans ,whether each fan is running,when you turn on the projector
2,if the fans run, then ,check the lamp or lamp ballast

Check for bulging capacitors on the power supply board. Replace if found.

Take the lamp cover back off. Check the mechanism that the projector uses to sense the door. It might be a small pressure switch. Check whatever triggers the mechanisms is still attached to the door and hasn't broken off.

Change the lamp.

Remove the lamp and reseat it carefully, following the instructions in the user manual.


If this doesn't help you may find that you need a new lamp.. if you are in the UK you can purchase a Sony VPL-EX5 Lamp here or from here if you are in the USA

Its because of dust.Out bulb throw air to bulb and at projector through air blower or vacuum cleaner.You will get better result

change the resolution to 800x600 and if it works raise the resolution step by step
