What is the compression reading. You have to check it with a compression gauge before you can say it has good compression. Check compression with a short hose 2 cycle compression checker. Don't use one for automotive, the reading could be off by as much as 35 psi.
Did you check the muffler exhaust or spark arrester, to see if it is clogged from using to rich a oil/gas mixture ? Did you replace the diaphragm in correct position ? Find a new carb online, possibly ebay ?
Sounds like you need a new spark plug and probably a new gas filter. To start the weed eater it is recommended to pump the primer bulb seven times and the choke full down. You can get the fuel filter out of the tank with a hooked wire. Good luck.
Unless it has a tag or decal on it saying it is a 4 cycle then it uses mixed gas/oil at about a 50:1 ratio. Straight gasoline will freeze the piston in the cylinder in mere minutes.
