I have a jvc hd52z585. while watching tv it turned off and the lamp light and the power light are blinking at the same time. i have unplugged the tv for a couple of hours. when i plugged it back in it does...

very easy.
there is 1 thumb screw behind left speaker grill.unscrew it to remove the grill.the lamp is behind that.after changing the lamp,go in to CUST.MENU,scroll down to reset lamp timer. Best price for lamp is pureglare.com. Inspect the lamp for internal glass particles for 100% verification of being bad. Also at the root of the glass stem in the middle look for bubbling of the glass. This is another sign of a bad lamp.

Hi,
It seems lamp/ bulb popped again, check lamp inside tv.
If tv does not show red blinking light then it would be lamp that knocked off, replace lamp in tv to fix its problem, please buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

I have a Sony 50" WEGA rear projection tv. Last night it made a popping sound and then the screen went black. I could still hear audio at that time. I turned the tv off and now there is a blinking red...

It sounds lamp in tv got broken as you heard pop sound of it, replace lamp in tv to fix the issue.
Blinking light would be Lamp light at tv front that shows lamp is dead.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and mentioned in tv user manual.
Thanks.

No Picture, Power light Blinking 3 times then repeats

3 times blink shows lamp cover is removed or not installed properly on TV.
Please take out lamp inside TV and check, seems its broken as you heard loud pop.
Thanks.

TV acts like it is turning on then shuts off then repeat, repeat

When my lamp died the bulb literally exploded. That may be what you heard. Have you check the lamp? If the lamp is ok, the lamp's ballast or power supply might have blown.
