When the shooting information display is shown, press the [i] button (the bottom one on the left) to switch to the quick settings display. Use the cursor pad to select the shooting mode (fifth item from the top along the right edge) and press OK. Use the cursor pad to select one of the two release modes. The quick response remote mode (marked with an icon of the remote control) fires the shutter when you press the button on the remote. The delayed remote mode (marked with the remote icon and "2s" gives you two seconds to hide the remote behind your back before firing the shutter.

Full details are "Releasing the Shutter" section of the manual (starting on page 54 in my copy).

Hi Pam -

Check out pages 54 & 55 of the manual to review the section on "Releasing the shutter" and "Self timer and remote control modes". Those two pages detail the operation and show the camera's icons associated with the different functions and wireless remote modes.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply. Thanks.

How to set up ml-l3 remote control nikon D3200

Set the camera to one of the remote modes. The quick-response remote mode fires the camera when you push the button on the remote, just as if you were pushing the shutter release button on the camera. The delayed response remote mode gives you two seconds to hide the remote behind your back before firing the camera.

See "Release Mode" beginning on page 31 of the manual: http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/dslr/D3200_EN.pdf

I have a Vivitar VIV-RC-200 wireless remote and I can't get it to work on my Nikon D-90 nor can I find a manual that goes with it. Can you help me. Ian

When you purchased the remote, did it say it would work with the Nikon? Usually, remotes are brand specific. IE...Nikon works with Nikon, Pentax works with Pentax, etc.

How do i set up my nikon d500 to use my nikon ml-l3 remote controller

I assume you mean either the D50 or the D5000.

In either case, set the camera's shooting mode to one of the two remote modes. Quick-response remote mode fires the shutter when you press the button on the remote. Delayed remote mode waits two seconds for you to hide your hand behind your back before firing the shutter.
