Hotpoint WF000P, On/Off light and Energy Save lights start flashing and sounds like the pump comes on at the same time - only way to stop it is to switch off at mains. Machines washes, rinses and spins but clothes still very wet when cycle finishes however if I put them back on just to spin it seems to work OK. Any suggestions on what problem is?

Sounds like motor is not coming up to spin speed. May be overheating, in which case you would need a new motor.

Had exactly the same last week - Jan 09 - and had to call out Hotpoint engineer - £99.98 all inclusive of parts - it was the main controller board, so thats under guarantee for another 12 months. all working and spinning as should be and only took around 30mins.GS :)

SOURCE: Hotpoint WD63 not spinning correctly

Two things to check.
Remove rear cover.
Remove large black hose onto drum
Remove and clean filter inside hose.

Next--remove top cover and check the brushes in the motor, if they are less than 3 or 4 mm long, then replace them.

It sounds as if a bearing seal was defective when it left the factory and is allowing lubricant to bleed out; I would consider this a warranty item and if the company doesn't care to make it right, file a complaint with the local BBB relating to the dealer where you bought it and nationally against the company itself.
Maybe they don't want this stain on their reputation but this is another reason to avoid US manufacturers.
