The battery is most likely at fault, though if a different battery still doesn't work, there's probably something else to blame.

Hm. Seems so. But the phone is only a couple months old - I don't know how this would have happened so suddenly?

Most batteries will last longer than a couple of months, but there are always exceptions. It's soon enough that you might be able to get a replacement under warranty or something similar. Most companies seem to do a decent job of replacing things that fail because of factory defects, which seems like a likely reason for failure in your phone's case.

My Samsung will not accept a charge

hi Karen.
you could try this, but do so at your own risk.
How do you fix your phone if it wont charge? All you need to do is shut down your device, remove the battery if possible and use something small, such as a toothpick, to 'lever up' the little tab inside the USB port on your smartphone or tablet. Do so very carefully and gently, then reinsert your battery and plug it in again.
or read up some more at this link.

Take off the cover, remove the battery and use a pencil eraser to clean both the battery plug pads and the plugs in the phone. Get a piece of thin tape and apply to the bottom of the battery and then reinsert. Try to power up. Sometimes dropping it will slightly bend the batter contacts or misalign them. Clean and see if that helps.

If the cell phone battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.
