Dim display How do I increase the contrast

This is normally caused by the deterioration of the capacitor that is on the display board. The display fades gradually until you can't see it at all. Google doesn't say that it is adjustable.

yes. You can always use the contrast and brightness tabs in the monitor.

Go to the MENU of the monitor by pressing a button(prob it should on a side of the monitor).

Choose brightness and then increase it.

If you have the 12C Platinum, turn the calculator on. Press and hold the f key, then press the + key to increase the contrast.

It could be that the main batteries are drained and are no longer able to supply power to the calculator. Replace the AA batteries with a fresh set. After replacing the batteries the display may become too dark or too dim. To set the correct contrast
Press [2nd] key and release it.
Press and maintain pressure on UpArrow to increase contrast (darken screen), OR on DownArrow to decrease it (lighten screen). If you overshoot your intented contrast you can revert the processs.

the problem is the display unit itself or the cable that goes from the display to the electronic (Most likely the dispaly itself).

If it is just a matter of the screen being too dim, you can actually increase the contrast.

1. Turn calculator ON
2. Press [MENU] even if you do not see anything
3. Press [ALPHA][COS] sequence to access the letter E.
4. Press repeatedly the Right Arrow till the contrast is adequate.

The contrast of my PC monitor increases automatically to 100%.

If your inverter is good I,de say your backlight is going bad, I just replaced mine in a sony vaio and now it seams to bright.

1. Press and release the gold [2nd] button. Verify that the blinking up arrow appears in the display.
2. Press and hold the blue up or down arrow key to increase or decrease contrast, until the display is to your liking. Be alert: the display will change quickly.

The calculator will remember your contrast setting; you don’t have to adjust it every time you turn the calculator on.
