My Laptop doesnot power up - Sony VAIO FX240 Notebook

probably ur battery is dead or your loading circuit is malfunctioning, due to internal circuitry overload most like to overheating.

1. Try pressing the power button for several seconds (10-15). It should power off the laptop.
If not, unplug the charger and remove the battery for a few minutes.

2. Then try to start it up again.

Possible cuase:
1 AC adapter failure
2 Power jack failure

First replace it with another working charger, see if the problem gone. If not, there may be strong possibility that the power jack was broken.

Here below are some common symptoms of a bad charger.
-The laptop only runs when you keep the power cord in a certain direction.
- The laptop only runs on battery power.
- The laptop will not charge the battery.
- The laptop switches from AC power to battery power intermittently.
- The unit suddenly shuts off
- Sparks come out of the back of the laptop.

Your ac adapter may have an intermittant fault or the socket on the laptop requires replacing.

I recommend you shut it down as opposed to let it hibernate or just turn off hibernation

Start... Control panel.... Power options... Hibernate ... uncheck the box "Enable Hibernate"

Take off the the battery and connect the cable to your pc, and put it on, if it works this means the battery is died, if it doesnot come on try to use another charger, it seems the charger doesnot give enough power for your laptop.
