Try cleaning your RAM (gold terminals) using a pencil eraser
i did try that but nothing yet
Hyjacker, Hayat.
so did this out of the BLUE>
ran yesterday not today
or removed the working ram installed wrong ram and it fails, no ram make and part numbers stated, at all.
is new ram failure?????????
RAM stick fingers dirty?,never use erasures here and 10x worse is ink erasures.
the gold does not rust, out. ok.?
just clean with cleaners safe for electronics.
why ask here and not Lenovo.com? the book covers beeps.
why ask here hyjacker, beep codes very by maker and module of PC. ask at Lenovo...
a WIN .
a complex topic that.
The Lenovo web site even has diagnose program to run on this PC.
YOu can test the ram 1 stick at time
this is always first step if beep codes or POST errors show bad ram.
Is see others on the main support page asking about, 1,3,3,1 there.
see that below.
quote
"Turns out the problem was the subset of RAM. Crucial specified the 'generic' part we needed. However, specifically, the motherboard only supports the 16-chip style of ram -- 8 chip on each side of the board.
so was wrong ram, both failed even with 1 installed", unquote.
so using high density modern RAM is no good.
this is very common.
example 8 chip total are no good. here.
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/forum...@TKB!!297600
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/searc...
see how density is the cause.
You bought the WRONG RAM FOR SURE>
http://www.pcdied.com/bad-ram-ddr.html
not only that using a Pencil eraser on new DDR sticks voids the warranty,
this PC was first sold in 2008 so can be 10 years old now.
2 slots of DDR RAM.
200pin DDR3 so says your manual. at Lenovo
1G or 2GB sticks only.
max of 4GB it states (type 7494) in your title and I am reading your service manual to you now.
what is your FUll model number with type.
what CPU do you run.
this?
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / 3 GHz
no source where you bought memory (store name, fleabay?)
no names brand of memory stated, nor a P/N.
no clues at all by any poster OP or hyjacked.
no memory size stated, by OP.
No statement tested them 1 by 1 , in bank 0 slot, per manual.
on the Lenovo site,
I clicked, parts, then pasted M58p-(7479)
and shows many DDR3, types.
the first one show , can be seen here.
64y:https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-PC3-10600-...
1gbhttps://www.amazon.com/1GB-DDR3-1333-UDI...
16 chip density
if using 8 chip sticks it may fail.
PCB edge connectors. are gold plated.
Gold does not rust or corrode. ok?
so if the GOLD is dirty then just use ESD ways of safe cleaning, (professional)
Most erasers on pencils, are bad 4 ways.
1: ESD generated static, super bad idea.
2: the eraser is abrasive.
3: the dust it creates is super bad for landing in any PC,.
4: new stick warranty now void, wow !
OFF THE WIKI AND IS NO LIE.
ERASURE"
Originally made from natural rubber, but now usually from cheaper SBR, this type contains mineral fillers and an abrasive such as pumice with a plasticizer such as vegetable oil."
I'd bet you that OIL, is is too. Yah.
VOLCANIC PUMICE DUST INSIDE IS NEVER GOOD FOR GOLD. 50 angstroms thick !
what pro's use is PCB cleaners, spray cans.
if the fingers are dirty , we clean them with simple safe cleaners,
never ever use sandpaper or erasers.
Alcohol 99% or better. (oil free)
or as seen on mouser.com under PCB cleaners.
safer
just, remove the sticks.
blow the slots out with can-o-air.
then clean stick with paper cloth, and alcohol.
test the sticks 1 by 1 in bank 0 or channel "A" slot first.

Cause
Computer RAM (memory) related issue. Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards. Information about ESD and proper grounding techniques are found on our ESD help page. Remove added memory If you've recently added or tried to add additional memory to the computer and have started getting these beeps. Remove all new memory you've added to the computer. If the computer works fine after removing the new memory you're encountering either an incompatibility or defective new memory. Open computer and reseat memory Sometimes when the computer is moved or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer. Swap memory location If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer. If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick of memory and boot the computer. If this does not resolve the issue try removing that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory. Try another computers memory If you have access to another computer that uses the same memory, try using its known good memory in your computer. If another computers memory works you know that you have bad memory. If another computers memory does not work and it is compatible with your computer unfortunately your motherboard or the slots on the motherboard are defective causing it to be unable to properly read the memory, which means the motherboard will have to be replaced. Replace memory If it is determined the memory in the computer is bad we suggest that you replace it.
I did slave the memory on a differnt machine and it is n good condition, tried to swime the memory slots since it only one memory stick but no results yet
it's the wrong memory.
learn that every PC made has a MMU.
memory manager unit. in the processor or the north bridge chip.
and all such MMU have rules or restrictions.
in this case the M58, ram must be X16 density.
8 chips 2 sides, 1 stick DDR.
if you buy modern 2018 DDR with less chips
it fails for ******* density.
testing ram on other PC, not M58 is wasted effort.
this is complex.
or OLD MMU's do not like new modern high-density chips.
buy certified, DDR for you M58, only that
and not genericl
