Are you charging it by plugging it into a computer? The "MSDC" you see usually means "Mass Storage Device Class", which basically means the computer is using the storage on the camera as a removable drive. This would usually happen when plugging a camera into the computer via USB. There is usually an AC adapter that comes with a camera, or a separate charger for just the battery. If there was no charger that came with it, the camera is probably still charging. If the camera is on, try turning it off and plugging it in. Remember, even if it shows "MSDC", it is probably still charging. Hope this helps!
Testimonial: "Didn't explain why the LED isn't on while charging. Too bad the directions do not mention how long the battery needs to charge for its first time."

The MSDC appears even when charging through the AC adapter. So, does that still mean the camera is thinking it is still a MSDC? However your definition of "MSDC" was very helpful and didn't make me sound silly for asking. I hope overnight charging will make all ok. Thanks!
