Hello,

Welcome to Fixya.

The best thing to do is to replace the LCD screen. You can buy good LCD screens online or if you prefer, you can try to see in computer shops near your home, but I think this will be a bit more difficult.

Here is a link where you can buy an LCD screen online: Dell Inspiron 710m replacement LCD screen

And here is a link where you will get a manual which will help you replace the LCD : http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins710m/en/sm/display.htm#wp1105565

Hope this helps.

The only thing you can do in such a case is to replace the LCD screen.

You need to replace the screen. you can probably get one from dell or ebay - just make sure it's the right product code or you could end up buying something totally useless. The product code is on the back of the lcd screen or you might be able to get it from the dell website by entering your service tag number and checking for spares.

So sorry about the cracked screen. But the solution to cracked screens is replacement.
But pending the time it can be replaced, if you have a desktop monitor, you can connect it to it.
If not, a flat screen TV could do the job of display, using the monitor display cable.

Hope that helped?
Success.

What you have is a cracked screen. The LCD panel is cracked and is leaking fluids to the rest of your screen, those dots will spread too. This happens when u pick up the computer from the screen. You could try finding a replacement laptop screen, or get a new computer. They aren't that expensive. Make sure you save your hard drive tho!

Dell won't turn on, screen blank, battery light on when pluggedin

Take battery out and see it will turn on with just the power supply. If this does not work try with just the battery and no other power. If these do not work try to find a know good battery and power supply and these steps again. If all this fails it will most likely be the computer power supply which in some cases is quite a costly repair. It is possible that the motherboard or processor is defective causing this issue.

Laptop image and color distorted

hmmm...too bad about the spongebob. Any liquid hitting the screen, won't usually neutralize the screen. Big issue is if it gets down inside the area where you turn on the computer. That's where the electronics are, and the connectors for the LCD. I'd suggest you enquire about warranty repair(and leave the spongebob part out, since it's not usually covered by the spongebob maker, either). :)
