I have a (jvc dvd digital cinema system th-s3). that will not play original dvds however it seems to play copies and cds just fine in fact all other functions work correctly. i have tried a lens cleaning dvd to test wether the problem was in fact a lens issue however after further efforts of cleaning it hasnt worked.

I doubt you are having any kind of signal loss. By your own admission, "some DVDs are worse". Most likely, your optical pickup(laser) is no longer up to spec. Very soon, it will not read any DVDs. ive got a sony dav f200 home cinema system,it lets me play music cds but trying to play dvds(not copied or american) it comes up with and error code c:13:71. what does it mean?

try to check the av output wire if its properly connected according to its color.

try setting tv to s-in it should be in the menu

try also to clean with a lens cleaner.

Did you try to clean lenses on laser head?

In response to your jvc-a75r DVD player, sometimes the solution might be less complex than it may appear. Had the same problem with my Samsung s321,the machine refused to read DVD's but would play CD's no problem. Simply opened up the cover(usually)4-6 small screws, and found my dog's hair inside of the player covering the laser eye.Electrostatic ionization attracts dust,etc. into the player remarkably well sometimes. Carefully used a cotton swap to remove debri. PLayerworked fine afterwards ...Good luck!
