The colour is not printing anywhere near the same as the image, its very yellow I have done the cleaning and the test print shows the blue to be very pale and I have tried 3 new ink cartridges, I did print...

Great job on cleaning the cartridges and even trying 3 new ink cartridges. Pretty much you did the basic troubleshooting already. This looks like a hardware problem but I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark technical support to further investigate the problem. Thanks.

Many thanks for the suggestions received. Have been told by HP to
change the black printhead - which has solved the problem!

HP DeskJet 850c will not print colour

It could well be the printer head (the area where the cartridge locks into the printer) has gummed up contacts. Take a soft, lint-free cloth and wipe down gently wipe down the face of the contacts. Keep wiping until all residue is removed. Reinstall a color cartridge and then run the printer's software alignment utility (this is part of the software that comes with the printer).

Colour cartridge missing but I only want to print

No you cannot. Each one of your cartridges is smart chipped. When this cartridge registers as empty it acts as an on/off switch thus turning the printer off.'

You need to replace the empty cartridge in order to print.

Go printer settings and check option to print only black.

Fuzzy ink

probably dirty or broken print head. suggest you replace it or get new blue cartridge if your machine has seperate colour cartridges.

Refilled ink cartridges problem colour

this is not a printer problem, you have a problem with colour cartridge! u can fix this in 2 diferent way: 1. replace the colour cartridge with new one, or gently clean the nozzle cartridge with a wet tissue until the cyan colour mark a line on the tissue just like the others colours: yellow and magenta. maybe must repeat this several times.

Only prints black & blue

I have a similar problem - i can print all colours apart from red.
I've tried cleaning, deep-cleaning, and even bottom plate cleaning but of none if this improves anything.

Tried cleaning the print heads and nozzles with cotton buds, but this dont do anything. Even tried re-seating the cartridges but this does nothing either

Printer prints in color but has gaps

Have you tried a new colour cartridge? This is a classic sign that the cartridge may be low on ink. When printing text, assuming you are printing black, it is likely that the black cart is doing most of the work so the gaps are insignificant. You could try printing text in several different colours. If the colour cartridge is low, you'll find that some colours may be ok but others may have gaps.

Best to try a new cart if you have one.
