You need to do the following:
If it's windows 7, Go to the windows button, click it and then click on control panel (the first menu item in the third section of the grey panel). In this part you'll see an icon with a globe and a clock. This is the Clock, Language and Region section. Click on it and that will bring you to the detailed settings, with three icons: a clock and calendar, a clock and globe and just a globe.
Click on the clock and globe to access the region and language settings. The first drop down menu is the language setting, which you should change to English (United States)
Hope this helps.

You also need to click the Keyboards and Languages tab.

Here you will find a list of languages, from which you need to select English (US), and then click OK.

If you don't see the list of display languages, then you will need to install additional language files first.

You can get more information on this from Microsoft's Local language website:

Hello,

The two possible solutions to have Windows in English are:

  1. To download the English language pack for your Windows version from the Microsoft website.
  2. To format the computer an install an English version of Windows.
Hope this helps you.

My new netbook is in French. How do we get it into English.

Hi there,

Well first of all you may Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel, to open Regional and Language Options, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Regional and Language Options after then you may select English Language. The Key Settings button is available only if you have added multiple languages or keyboard layouts.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Hebrew language kit problems

I have done typesetting and websites in Hebrew. It wasn't a lot of fun for me considering I don't speak the language. Word particularly has trouble with it. The best solution I found was putting the English text in a text box. You can hide the borders on the text box and change it to right alignment so that it looks like its just part of the doc and goes from left to right as it should. You can adjust how the Hebrew text wraps around the text boxes also.

I had a much easier time with Hebrew in Quark, haven't tried it in InDesign. And please don't ask me how the design department managed to steal a programmer to work on a 50+ language ad campaign. :D
