My zanussi dishwasher DE6854 doesnt seem to be heating up .Not been cleaning very well lately put in a dishwasher cleaner .The heat of the water didnt break the seal on the cleaner.

Hi, I have an older dishwasher also and recently mywife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I amtried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installedthem in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also foundthat if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad...So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to makesure it is working... JDB4950 Doesnt clean and i think hard water is the blame
Hard water is tough to overcome in a dishwasher, but there are some things you can do to compensate. First, use more detergent than normal. I have hard water and I put extra detergent in on every load. I just put it on the door when I fill the regular detergent dispenser. Also make sure that you always use rinse aid.

The new tablet detergents seem to work better for hard water, but they are expensive. Try a few different brands and see which one works best. A good way to judge is to look at the heating element and see if it has white scale deposits on it. If you use a box of a new detergent brand and it looks better or worse than it did before, it's a good indication.

The dishwasher should heat the water to about 55 C as the heating cycle starts. In these cycle, the dishwasher pauses after has filled with water and wait for the water to reach the temperature. If the water isn't being heated (because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues.

Water not hot
Dishwashers are suppose to be hooked up to hot water. If you had hotter water it would clean just fine. 120 deg or more!
