Hello there! I have a Lenovo IdeaCentre b305uk (don't know the rest of the serial) I have created a new partition (drive D) and my recovery key F2 is not longer working. LVT- Drivers and aplication... says "Failed to open service partition". Using partition wizzard I can see: *SYSTEM_RESERVED Primary NTFS 100 MB C: NTFS Primary ACTIVE Boot & SYSTEM D: NFTS Logical *LENOVO_PARTITION NTFS Primary (more than 15 GB of data in it). If I set the lenovo partition to ACTIVE boots loading WINDOWS and just a cmd pront with a green walpaper appear? So I had to set the C: back using an external tool. How Can I recover my F2 recovery funtionality? Thanks in advance

SOURCE: Have to make partition as C and D drive

Since you have used the recovery disc to restore the system, it will automatically create partitions on the system, in your case, just one major partition which is Drive C (C:). If you want to add partitions on your system, you can use partition editor software such as Norton Partition Magic 8.0 and Acronis Partition Manager. These software gets a portion of the main Partition (Unused / Free space) and creates a new one. You can create multiple partitions depending on the size of the Hard Drive on the system. These Software are not Free, if you want to use a free software for editing the parition, you can use Gparted (Found in : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ ). Though Gparted is free, it is harder to use compared to the first 2 software mentioned. If you want to use a user friendly sofware, I suggest that you use Acronis Partition Manager or Norton Partition Magic 8.0.

SOURCE: Lenovo 3000 N 100 One touch recover button not working

Dear Arnold,

you need to take your laptop to the Lenovo Authorised service center. As you stay in Delhi there are many service centers of Lenovo. They will charge you for fixing the one touch recovey but you will have to format your harddisk completly and tell them how much space you need for c drive and the rest will be occupied by d drive.

note: please take your back up of c as well as d drive. lenovo is not responsible for the backup.

There are ways to recover files from formatted hard drives but to recover the entire recovery partition is not likely.

Please contact Lenovo here to order recovery discs

SOURCE: lenovo ideacentre k210 57088756 motherboard burnt.

There are a huge range of motherboards to choose from. Stick with the well known brands and with the functions that suit your requirements.
My choice of brands are Gigabyte, Intel, MSI.
If you are into gaming and video editing etc. go for a motherboard without a built-in graphics card and purchase a separate high end graphics card.

Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation

are you installing a new hard drive? Why not use the recovery partition and do a factory restore. All the drivers for the unit will install then unless the W7 discs are recovery DVDs you have created W7 install disc probably doesn't complete because of not having drivers for your devices.

Lost NTFS partition on my WD1600BEVT, how do you restore so I can use again?

Depends on what you did to "lose" the partition-table.

Download the free 'PTEDIT.ZIP' file -- it is a "partition-table editor".
UNZIP it on a different computer, and extract the 'PTEDIT.EXE' program.
Run PTEDIT on your computer, and update the partition-table.

I have the Ideacentre B510, 77121VU and I want to change the size of the partitions. How shoul I do that, or that's other thing to do, cause my drive C is already full. Thank you!!!!

I would recommend that you download Easeus Partition Manager 3.0 Home Edition. Its a free application and has a very easy and intuitive interface which will allow you to resize or create logical partitions.

create new partition (NTFS)
hit APPLY
shutdown GPARTED LIVE.
install windows vista/7 thorgh reinstall DVD.

The partition that had the Lenovo image was on the old hard drive not the new one you purchased, so you will not be able to restore from image. Look on the bottom of the laptop for the Windows version. Is it Windows XP Home or Windows XP Pro? You will need a Microsoft Windows disk to reinstall and you can use the serial number on the sticker to activate. This is all legal because the serial number belongs to the laptop. Unfortunately, finding a Windows software might be difficult. Ask a friend if they have a disk of the same operating system.

Might be easier to take to a tech and pay $60.00 (I wouldn't pay nmore than that) and have them reinstall basic windows and drivers for you.

One key problem

If i were you i would go get a new key board. And you cant change the partitions of a hard drive around. Once they are there, you can delete them or add more but never move them around. Get a new key board. Good luck.
