My dvd player is hooked up to the samsung receiver. I am using two remotes, one is the cable box remote where I hit tv and power and then cable and power and then the red power button on the samsung remote and the tv comes on, I can switch to music on the radio and everything is fine but tried to use my dvd player for the first time and the dvd player comes on and is playing because the numbers are counting but can not get the dvd picture, the tv remains on. I tried hitting the dvd and power on the cable remote and that didn't work, then I hit the bd/dvd on the receiver and it didn't work either. I think I am just not hitting the right thing don't know what to do.

What you have to do is select the proper item on the receiver since that is what you have the dvd player connected to. Pressing bd/dvd on the receiver is not necessarily the right thing to do. All receivers have an input or source or function button that will enable you to choose the correct area where your device is connected. The way you have this hooked up may not be right but first things first. You will need to have a movie playing in the DVD player so that you see the numbers advancing. Go to each input/source/function on the receiver until you hear the DVD. Ok great! Now getting the picture is a little more tricky so please follow along carefully.

The cables going from the DVD player to the receiver: The cables should be connected to where it says OUT on the DVD player or hdmi out from the DVD player to one of the receivers INputs. Once that proper connection has been confirmed make sure the receiver is connected to the television for both video and audio. You must have a video cable as well as audio cables between the television and the receiver or an hdmi cable. If it is not connected to the television in this way that is the problem right there. In fact you probably have a cable going from the television's audio OUT going INto the receiver. In order to see your DVD player you will also need to connect the receiver's video OUT to the television's video IN.

You will need the television's remote to be able to change the source/input/video/aux on the television. You might be able to change it with the cable box remote by pressing tv and then input/source/video.

ALTERNATELY: You can connect the DVD player's Video OUT directly into the television's INput. The DVD player's Audio OUT cables would be connected directly to the receiver's IN.

Either way you will have to choose the correct input on the receiver as well as on the television itself.
Good luck!

I no longer have the manual for the product and I want to hook it up to my TV via a cable box; we have Charter cable. The cable box is a Motorola and it says Dolby digital on the front of the cable box. ...

The white, yellow, and red RCA phono jacks on the back are called VGA inputs and outputs. The Red is
right channel audio, The white is for left channel audio. The yellow is the video. Look carefully on the back of the unit and the input jacks and output jacks should be clearly marked.

There are several other input/output ports. One is HDMI which is flat and wide. Another, not common, is composite video which uses the three above mentioned RCA jacks as indicated plus two more colored jacks. This combination gives a better picture.

A third option is a screwed on cable for input and output. This is called a "F" connector and is only used if the receiver equipment has a built in tuner. The output of a cable box is usually an "F" connector and the above described outputs

If you connect the cable box to the DVD player input and the DVD player output to the TV input, you often must have the DVD player turned on so the signal will feed to the TV.

If the TV has multiple inputs, it is best to connect the cable box to one of the TV inputs and the DVD player to another TV input. Using the TV remote you can chose which input you want to watch. The remote should have a button labeled "input"

I'm trying to hook up my Panasonic DVD player (model DVD-S29) to a Comcast cable box but have not been successful. My DVD player only has Audio Out connections, with no audio in connections. I...

the cable in should go to the box and cable out from the box to the TV.These should all be coaxial cables correct?Hook up the DVD player to the TV using the red, white, and yellow cables is also correct. In order to watch a DVD,you have to use the input select button on the remote for the TV ONLY to change inputs. If you have a universal remote for the TV and not the original factory remote provided with the TV,you need to use the menu button located on the outside of the TV.I just searched on my flat screen and was unable to find an input select through the menu button. It may not be possible on this TV if you do not have the original remote and if you own a universal. My universal for one of my older TV's is about 7 years old so I do not know if newer ones have an input select option. If they do not,it is most likely due to patents and royalty payments which these cheap remote makers do not want to pay.Anyhow, let me know if this helps.Just comment here and i will get an auto link to your comments.Good luck! Would like to record from my tv to my magnavox dvd/vcr combo box

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. If you have more question please contact me.

Mintek DVD-1600 Setup to cable box/tv

A dvd player that doesn't record hooks straight to the television, not the cable box. Tv's typically have av jacks. If yours doesn't, you will need to buy an rf modulator. If your tv has the jacks, U will need to use your tv remote and hit tv video or input or source on that tv remote to switch between input and tv modes.

Samsung tv - switch to play a dvd player

All you should have to do is hit the TV/Video button on your remote. It also could be named AUX, or or INPUT. What this does is tells the tv to switch to the input you have the DVD player hooked up to. Otherwise it will keep drafting a signal off of your cable line.

Bought 2 DTT-9900 converter boxes and hooked them to 2 TV's, get signals after playing around with antenna. but after using both TV's to play a dvd (dvd player hook to TV) The sound went down to almost...

Try turning off the converter box when using the DVD player. The zenith have a second sound control on the converter box remote thus you may have to adjust the sound on the tv remote because you are using the dvr. I set the zenith sound level at the highest level and use on the tv remote only to adjust sound. This eliminated a hiss that the sound control on the converter box was causing.

Samsung CXD2512 TV/VCR Combo...Cannot hook up DVD player

We also don't have a remote. We hooked a DVD/VCR combo to the Samsung combo by attaching the cable from the cable line to the DVD player and an additional cable from DVD to TV and it used to work but after we lost the control, the DVD can only be listened to but not seen. The VHS from the DVD player works perfectly though.

When we had the remote (before connecting the other combo) we used line-in to see a DVD or VHS using the yellow red and white cables from the Samsung to the other player.
