LG 47LD520 47 in. HD-Ready LCD TV Logo
Anonymous Posted on May 16, 2011

Today, while watching tv on the Dish, tv suddenly started powercycling. I unplugged it, waited, and then tried a DVD -- worked fine. Tried Dish again, power cycled again -- on off on off, 1/2 second of picture, no sound, struggles until I unplug her. It's an LG 47LD520 5 months old. Dish network through HDMI, DVD through red / white / yellow. Tried Dish though component cable, still power cycles. Tried all HDMI ports, too, same thing. Brought in my old tv and hooked to Dish though component cables (old tv doesn't have HDMI), all is well (so I think the dish box isn't the issue). Any ideas? So weird that it plays DVDs but craps out every time I turn on the Dish. Thanks in advance, Julie in CT

If you are using a powerstrip may not be supplying enough power to run the LG HDTV and your HD receiver. If you are using a powerstrip make sure the receiver is plugged directly into the wall. Otherwise this may be a grounding issue please reply if this doesn't work and we can look into some other possibilities.

Thanks for this. Will keep in mind -- I didn't know that. However, the LG was still on warantee and in was the motherboard. Replaced for free... let's hope this one lasts longer than 5 months! Thanks again for the help,

I have been looking for the answer as to why my lg tv would only blink and not turn on all weekend I happen to find your suggestion after much searching and yours was the solution to my problem! Thank you so much! I was just about to bring it in to get it repaired and they probably would have enjoyed charging me to just plug it in and see that it works!

same problem all set to replace TV but tried another source DVD instead of dish and it was fine. Possible the cable (cheap HDMI) but reboot the dish (hard) pull the plug and fixed it up, probably the HDMI connection at the source or the TV (or the cable)

We receive satelite tv through dish and digibox. We have suddenly

Try unpluging from the mains for about 2 mins,if still a problem then the LNB on the dish may be at fault

Dish menu but no picture or sound

Try holding the power button in on the receiver until the picture goes away then turn it aloose it will reboot and your sound will usually come back. If you had rather and can get to it unplugging it from the electric outlet, the receiver, does the same thing.

Surround on my system

Have you tried what I said and changed the settings in the DVD?
Also, is it a built in DVD player / TV combo, or a separate unit? You can try doing a hard reset..Unplug the TV from the mains, disconnect all cables from tv and wait for 1 hour. Then press the power button on TV and plug in the mains. Same if your DVD player is stand alone.
Try that and let me know..

Olevia lcd tv will not turn on.

First you want to unplug the tv for a few hours to reset settings. Plug it back in and then switch the master power switch off and then on.
There is a master Power Switch next to the power cord receptacle, make sure that this switch is on the on position and the blue LED in the front is illuminated (Note: The switch in the rear of the television is in the on position when the line is depressed).
This should get your tv working again. Just needs a good powercycle.

TECH just worked on a tv I just tried it on.

System Error

FYI...the best suggestion I've seen is to hold the channel up and play buttons simutaneously....thereby causing the machine to return to the "factory initialized" state. So far so good for me. We'll see. photog1
