Pretty much the same problem here...TV was making that very familiar whirring sound so I replaced the color wheel. Bad sound is gone but so is my picture...all the lights were flashing on the control button in the front and the unit is over four years old so I replaced the bulb too. Still no picture but I do hear a clicking noise which I am going to presume is the ballast trying to give the bulb a kick start...I've taken it back apart twice to make sure I hooked up all the cables and everything looks tight...any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds likea bad color wheel to me, or possibly a lamp has blown. If the noise is a humming sound--it is the CW--if you hear a "sound like a sizzle, for a few seconds and then normal, and this repeats a few times--the lamp has blown.
