First, let me clarify what the red light indicates. A solid red light indicates the cleaning cycle is in progress. A blinking red light indicates the coffeemaker is off, but is due to be cleaned.

The red light will continue to blink while the coffeemaker is off until the cleaning cycle has been completed fully. The process takes about an hour and a half and is not intuitive. So, here are my instructions.

With the coffeemaker off (with the red light blinking), pour four cups of pure white vinegar (no water added) into the reservoir. Don't short the amount. You'll need four cups to complete the cycle. Remove any filters, but leave the strainer basket in place. Tap the "select" button three times until the red light is on (and stays on, not blinking). The cleaning cycle now begins. It should take between 45 minutes and an hour to complete. Don't be concerned about the 30-minute long pause during the cycle when nothing happens. This is intentional and part of the cycle.

After the cleaning cycle has completed, get rid of the vinegar. Rinse out the strainer basket and the coffee pot. Run a full pot of clean water thru a regular brew cycle (with the pot and basket in place, of course). Then, dump the water, rinse the pot and basket again, and run another full pot of clean water thru a regular brew cycle. Dump that water too. And, you're done!

Why is the coffee not going into the cup? instead it's going straight into the driptray

There are several reasons but the most common is a clogged brew unit - Have you ran the cleaning cycle successfully? Try running the rinse cycle and see if water is dispensed through the coffee spouts - the cleaning tablets are used to help rid the build up of oils in the brew unit and should be used regularly.

I need to clean my capresso c1000. i can't find the instructions. i put a cleaning tablet into the ground coffee area, and ran the ground coffee button a few times. is that it?

No, first push the self clean button (hold until lights come on). Then pull the grounds unit and empty it, that will turn off one red light. Fill the water tank. Then drop the tablet. Then hit the ground coffee button. Cycle through and dump the grounds each time the grounds light illuminates.

Need to clean cuisinart 12 cup coffee on demand coffe pot. How do I clean?

Do you have the DCC-2000?

To delime a multi-cup coffee maker, mix white vinegar with water (1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water) and fill the water reservoir completely. Then turn the coffee maker on. Wait until the unit completes the "brewing" cycle and beeps 5 times. Turn off the coffee maker. Discard the liquid after the cycle. Then fill the reservoir with clean water and turn on again. When this cycle completes, again discard the liquid. Repeat the water rinse if you notice an odd taste to the coffee afterwards. (If the coffee maker still has deposits, repeat the vinegar cleaning cycle and rinse cycles.) There are commercial deliming products, mix them with water following the package directions.

The manual for the DCC-2000 is available as a link here: http://www.cuisinart.com/products/coffee_bar/dcc-2000.html . The direct link to the manual is http://www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manuals/dcc-2000.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Got this coffee maker from a buddy. had been sitting for a while, ran lots of water and 2 cycles of vineger and water though without the filter to clean out debris in resevoir. still getting quit a bit in...

You may find this a useful site in the future:

http://www.cuisinart.ca/cuisinart_product.php?item_id=63&product_id=58&cat_id=2

Your Instruction Booklet:

http://www.cuisinart.ca/pdf/ibs/en/DCC-1200C_en.pdf

It is likely that calcified deposits are gradually breaking away as you now use the coffee maker. Is your Self Clean light flashing? Instructions on decalcification and cleaningh begin on page 5 of your booklet.

To clean, fill the water reservoir to capacity with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. For your problem, let the vinegar solution sit in the reservoir for 30 minutes to an hour before beginning the cleaning cycle.

Press the Self Clean button. When the self clean light glows, turn the coffeemaker on by pressing the ON button. The self clean light will shine steadily. The coffeemaker is now in Self Clean mode. One cycle should be sufficient to adequately clean the coffeemaker. When the cycle is completed and the five beeps sound, the coffeemaker will shut off. Turn the coffeemaker ON to see if the Self Clean light continues to flash. If it does, turn it to OFF and then repeat the cleaning procedure with a fresh solution of vinegar and water.

If the Self Clean light no longer flashes, turn the coffeemaker to OFF and then run one cycle of fresh cold water through the unit before using the unit again to brew coffee.

If you continue to see debris, unfortnately you will have to repeat until clear.

It is stuck on large and does not brew

My keurig did the exact same thing. Stuck on large and wasn't pulling water into coffee maker so it would only dispense a small amt of coffee. I turned it off for about 10 mins. Emptied the reservoir and filled it half way with white vinegar. Ran several cups through and after 2nd brew it ran faster and after the 3rd run with vinegar all the size cup lights came back on. It is working great now. Just empty reservoir with remaining vinegar and rinse. Run a couple cycles of plain water through the coffee maker to rinse out vinegar. I hope this works for you.

The light for CLEAN does not stop blinking

Clean it as directed. (I ran a load of vinegar through the coffee maker, then two loads of clear water.)
Then, turn the power off for a minute. When you turn it back on, the light should stay off.
