HP 7410 streaks when using auto document feeder to make copies

I get a black streak (when making B + W copies) or a red streak (when making color copies) about 1 inch from the edge when using my HP 7410 printer's auto document feeder to make copies. I experience no problems when lifting the cover and placing the original flat on the glass to make either color or B+W copies. I am puzzled by this.

I have the same black line problem described. It only happens with the document feeder. My question is how does one get the document feeder open so that the glass can be cleaned?

The document feeder of that unit have its own scanner glass. try opening the document feeder and clean the scanner glass with a lint free cloth that is moist with water and also clean the rollers of the document feeder

Lift the cover of the fax/scanner/copier. The glass area has 2 sections, a small section and a large section. Clean the small glass section with damp cloth. I had 3 black streaks caused by 3 black dots on that glass. I also cleaned the rollers on the ADF, but that was not the problem.

When using the auto feed, copies come out with black streaks down center of page

If you only get streaks when using the automatic document feeder, then in most cases it is dirt on the scanner glass. You do not state model but if you can also scan flat objects, trying copying a piece of paper that way. If that copy comes out fine, then you definitely have dirty glasss, if that copy has streaks you either have dirt on the scanner itself or a faulty scanner unit.

Scan streaks with HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw

This may not always be the solution, but in my case it was. If you are getting black streaks on your copies, try this first:

The problem is that that there a small piece of glass that the doc feeder use's to scan the original. You will have to clean the small glass it's about a half of a inch piece and is normally under the doc feeder unit. It will either be to the right side of the main copy board glass or it is under the doc feed unit where the paper goes down through the feeder. It is mostly some white out or other residue, on the glass, just clean with a monitor wipe or take a cloth & wipe, etc...... Good Luck
Online tip from Chris Coughlin, but I changed a few of his words.

I have a black streak all on one side when i copy ?

If it is just when you copy and not when you print then it is a cleaning issue. Toner cartridge would cause the line to appear on copies, printouts and faxes. There is a piece of glass inside the auto document feeder that is probably dirty. Open up the document feeder as if you were clearing an original document jam. Look for a piece of glass inside the ADF, it will run the length of the document feeder. There is probably some dirt or another popular problem is white out. Clean off the glass with glass cleaner or alcohol and it should fix the problem.

Black streaks on copies. Gestetner 1302 How do I get rid of them

Do the streaks appear when you use the contact glass or just when you use the Automatic feeder?
If both, then you need to replace either the (drum unit) or the fuser roller(s).
If it just happens through the auto feeder, then lift up the "feed-in section" (left side) and clean the narrow scanner glass.

HP 7410 streaks on scanning and copying

First you need to determine if it's doing from both the  top and the glass.

1-assuming you are using the feeder to fax, copy or scan (the part that automatically picks up the paper) it comes out with a streak. Make a copy putting the paper on the glass and look at the copy. Does it have the streak?

2-lift the top and look to the left there should be a small 1inch glass, this is where it makes the copies from the feeder, is there a dot or white out or is the glass dirty? that's your streak, the paper is moving to make the copy,so the dot now looks like a line as opposed to making a copy on the glass it just sits there so a dot will stay a dot.

2- Clean with water or alcohol.
