Before you can do anything you need a M7310. Programming a Nortel voice mail requires M7310. It uses the 3 soft keys under the display to program it. You can get one cheap on EBAY. Programming for the voice mail is done on M7310, M7324, or T7316e sets. Try finding one of these sets around the office to do the administrative programming.
Hi! All phones that are plugged into the system are automatically assigned an extension. This is a good thing, and it keeps life simple. When you have a specific line assigned to a phone, all it means is that you have the phone programmed to appear and ring on that particular phone set. In short, find out your extensions number by pressing feature * 0 intercom. That will be the extension that you put in to add the mailbox to that phone. Now, I am assuming that you are using a voice mail system. If you are not, then you can have your phone service provider set you up with an external voice mail on a particular line.
The M7310 will display "Message for you" on the LCD screen when you have a message, provided that the Voice Mail system is configured to provide indication to the phone.

If none of the voice mail feature codes work (feature 980-989) then the voice mail system is either not working or isn't recognized by the telephone system.Go to your communications closet and check to see if theres a power light on in the voicemail.If not then you might want to call in your tele system service provider.
To access your voice mail remotely, while a greeting is playing (either the mail greeting or your own mail box greeting) press ** followed by your mail box number, password followed by the # ( ex. **,221,1234,#).
Could be two things, there could be a general delivery mailbox attached to the system which is mail box 100, or the new service provider has a off premisis voicemail attached to the lines. if there is VM on the lines you should get a stuttered dial tone on the line indicating that you have a voice mail.
It is telling you that the voice mail ports are busy and can not take another call in to the voice mail system. If the port the does not clear up after a min or two then reset the voice mail system . Unplug the power cord from the wall and let it set for a min , then plug it back in and wait about 5 min for the system to come back up , that should free up the ports .
