We have no sound from the TV. Happened all of a sudden, sound then nothing.

Hi,

connect a DVD player to the TV. If you still do not have sound, connect a headset to the TV. If there is no sound coming from the headset, it means your TV is have a defective sound ic.

When the sound ic is defective, you cannt hear any sound from the TV because the sound ic is responsible for bring out sound through the speaker.

Let me have a feedback on this issue please.

    Hello,

    Sound IC of your TV is defecive. It needs to be replaced. Do you have the ability to do the replacement your self?

    ok. so i connected a dvd player to the television and it worked! i got sound. so next question is does that mean my t.v. can only work this way?

Lost sound on tv suddenly
Just check whether the mute button on remote is jammed. Then if that is ok, check whether you can listen to the sound on a Head Phone connected to the TV. Even if it works, the TV needs attention by a qualified service technician.

Good day!

Please follow this procedure to fix your problem:
  1. Open the cover of your TV.Remove all screws at the back.
  2. Next,power ON the TV and check the output voltage of power supply using voltmeter.
  3. It should have not less than 5vdc for system board,12vdc for sounds and 24vdc for inverter board.If the 3 supplies are got a voltage drop your power supply had problem.For example if you check the 5vdc then the reading is 4.50vdc only.
  4. If you have voltage drop,check some leak/bulge on top capacitor on power supply.replace it by using soldering iron and soldering pump.
  5. When the power supply looks like OK,no voltage drop and no leak/bulge on top capacitor.The problem is your system board or main board.There's no easy remedy for that.You have to replace the whole system board.

My Emerson 42 inch LCD HDTV is 7 days old and recently quite displaying picture but there is sound. Nothing happened out of the ordinary, it was working fine and then the picture suddenly blinked and...
No display on all modes? If it is, you have a lemon set, I would take it back and buy a better brand instead. Emerson is a cheaply made TV. I myself prefer PANASONIC.
