My burner plays and reads fine, but not able to burn cd. have tried 24x and 16x instead of 48x, still didn't work. it detects the blank cd well and would start burning, but after 15 seconds, stopped and said 'error'. also tried different blank discs, same situation.

Hi bcwailing ,

The problem that you have described, indicates that your DVD-RAM is not working properly, perhaps the lens has been damaged or the software that you are using for burning the cd is not functioning properly due to change in settings, I would recommend you to do the following steps and check if it works :-

  1. Make sure that the software that you are using to burn the CD , is working properly ,a good idea would be to uninstall and reinstall the software , I believe this should help you out.
  2. If the above trick does not work ,then you can use your inbuilt windows cd writer to test write a cd , by right clicking the files you want to burn and select the send to option and then select the write these files to cd or selected the rewritable disc option.
  3. If the above method does not work , then you need to get a replacement for your DVD-RAM drive , in case it's under warranty , or you need to buy a new one , if it's damaged out of warranty, there are people who try to ask a third party vendo to chage lens , but it's not assured and could waste your valuable time and money.
Hope this helps...:)

Pc died

Hello, I have had similar problems with that same motherboard in the past and have found that resetting the cmos (see users manual) or just taking the battery of the motherboard for a few minutes can solve this. CAUTION please remove the power lead on your tower before touching any components inside, and earth yourself first by touching metal.. as static discharge kills pc components..
Hope this helps.....

I have failed to copy pictures on my Sony 48x/24x/48x/16x DVD Rom. The system says there is no disc. I am using TDK DVD-R 1-16x speed 4.7 GB single sided.

Hey,

looking at the details you have posted about your cd drive, its a cd burner with dvd reading cability.

can you post me the model of your drive to confirm this, it says on top of the drive, maybe on the front.

or simply try a CD instead of a DVD

Thanks,
Ekse
