You should open the back cover of the alternator, take a voltage meter and check for voltage if there is no voltage then check the brush if the brush is ok then change the avr .
Possible that the trip has worked to shut off supply due to a surge or that even if the mains switch has not tripped , it can be a fault in the alternator circuit or the coils.
You will need to check the coils , use a tester to check for voltage on the alternator coils to confirm
