I just purchased a 2007 VIP Vantage with an LST 3800 and it was experiencing similar problems. I noticed that the "UP" button didn't feel right when pushed, so I pulled it out of the dash and used a very small screwdriver to gently pry off the front bezel. There's a clip on each side that holds it in place, and it's fairly easy to remove. The rubber button pad had a tiny piece of plastic (it was the same material and color as the plastic in the bezel) between the bezel and the button pad that was causing the "UP" button to depress constantly. I put the button pad back into the bezel, snapped it back on and the depth sounder is working fine. Best of luck.

How to remove LG LST-4100A

To remove the LST-4100A commercial control interface from the television you need to follow the commands below.

1. Power on television.
2. Press and hold "MENU" for 10-15 seconds.
3. Quickly press "2-6-6-3" and then press "ENTER"

If you have done everything properly, it will bring up a small menu in the top left hand corner of the television. Kind of a hidden menu.

4. Arrow down to the menu option that says "D Box" and turn the option to "OFF".

Now turn off television and completely disconnect the LST-4100A. In fact, throw it away. In the trash is where it belongs.

Your television will now operate like a normal television purchased from a big box store. You should run an automatic programming setup for grins upon completing.

Enjoy your new NON-commercial lcd television.
