The problem is hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that leave those spots. It is very affordable and even has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look with this product.

Here'sthe best and final trick which I continue to do about every 6 weeks orso: Pour 1-2 cups white vinegar into the dishwasher and run it throughits longest cycle, using the hottest water setting. This will dissolveall the hard water mineral deposits and clean the dishwasher's pipes out reallywell with none of the danger associated with muriatic acid. And it's verycheap. If that doesn't do it tryreplacing the pump.

Samsung dishwasher sprays gunk all over my glasses. When the cycle is over they are coated with dried bits of gunk. Dishes are dirtier than when they went in.

I have the same problem with gunk and spots on dishes. I took apart the parts at bottom covering the heating element. There is all sorts of gunk on everything. I cleaned it all, even under gaskets and filter screen. I am neither sure what caused it nor how to prevent it. My thinking maybe the water source. Water in my town has gotten worse in quality and has bad smell. I use a major water filter system for drinking water. My thought is that the heating element is drying the water up and leaving sediment from water.

If you have still have some hard water present, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1/4 of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

It's not cleaning as well as it once did. Especially on top rack. It's odd but it's also leaving some form of sediment in the bottom of the glasses.

My ultra wash dishwasher is about 9 yrs old - works fine but their is now gritty stuff in the glasses an plates after washing - what is causing it and how to stop it

SOUNDS LIKE THE SEDIMENT FROM THE WATER HEATER OR THE DIP TUBE DISINTEGRATING. OR COULD BE SOMETHING INTRODUCED TO DISHWASHER THAT DOESN'T GET PUMPED OUT. HAVE YOUR AERATORS ON YOUR SINKS BECOME CLOGGED WITH THE GRITTY STUFF.

Glasses always have sediment on them, not all dishes get cleaned

Remove the lower spray arm by rotating counter clockwise while lifting it up. It will come right out. Look at the bottom and you will see two holes (jets) that are plugged with food chunks, broken glass, etc... their job in life is to keep the fine filter clean. Also make sure your hot water is actually hot... like 130 degree hot. Then run 2 cups of Tang Orange drink through it on the Pots and Pans cycle, added heat on, to remove mineral deposits. (Tang is VERY high in citric acid and will clean it out safely)
