I have an asus g71gx running a realtek audio driver. I've reinstalled the driver, reinstalled a new OS, and I'm still not getting any sound out of the internal speakers, but when I plug in a headphone jack, the sound comes trough the headphones. Windows 7 Ultimate 64x

Did the internal speakers worked before? Do you use the right drivers here is the ASUS download link http://usa.asus.com/Notebooks/Gaming_Powerhouse/G71Gx/#download Maybe there is a "switch off" in the BIOS?
The last option is that it is a HW failure - if the laptop is still under warranty I would use and not try to fix it by myself
Good Luck,

Hello you can download the driver here:

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5GL-MX&p=1&s=22

By selecting windows xp, and open the Audio folder, and click global for download.

The audio file needs to be unziped, before you install the driver.

Reboot after the install is done.
Update the other drivers, if any missing.

The audio file is newer present, in the xp installation file.

Good luck

I need AD19818 sound card driver

First, try Windows Update (look for optional updates for hardware). If you don't find it there, check your manufacturer's website support pages. Third, try RealTex's audio codec drivers (note their disclaimer). The fourth-best option is driver-notebook-download.com's Realtek driver page. (I have not verified that site is clean, or that the driver is up to date. Use it at your own risk.)

Realtek AC'97 driver

Before installing the AC97 software drivers, open System than click the Hardware tab than click Device manager. Scroll down to Sound, video & game controllers. Do you see a yellow ! point? If so than your drivers do need to be reinstalled. I could send you to Asus's site but they are a bit out dated so go here for updated drivers. The first one listed under Description will do just fine.
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
When you open the sound, video & game controller find AC97 & uninstall by right clicking on AC97 & uninstall. Only the AC97, leave the rest alone. Restart the PC than install the new drivers that you saved to your hard drive.
Check driver installed by opening controll panel than open Sound & Audio Device icon. Under Audio tab Realtek AC97 should be listed than click the Voice tab & the same should be listed.
Test both Audio & Mic functions. If either fail your intergrated controller could be defective. Lets hope everything works fine.
