My DVD player is stuck in Progressive Scan mode. I switch input to DVD and I get a blue screen with Progressive Scan Mode across it. Please help before I finally throw it outside.

F you accidentally set Progressive Scan to ON (within
Analog TV), press STOP 9 for five seconds to restore the
picture to normal operation.

I was playing with settings on my Zenith xbv342 and set the menu to progressive scan. I now have a blue screen with the words "progressive scan mode" I cannot get a picture and it is stuck in this m

Progressive scan mode is used by DVD players to artificially scale standard resolution DVDs to HD resolution, usually 720i. Is your set capable of receiving HD resolution? If not, that is probably why you are getting the blue screen.

Trun the DVD player on till you see the "progressive scan" screan. Hold the "stop" botton down for 5 seconds and the unit should reset to standard DVD play.

Worked for me, good luck.

DVD player wont show picture

to turn it off select connection method 3 above and progressive scanning mode, to set the mode, set progressive to off in the display menu so that the p scan indicator light on the front panel goes out. do all of this in interface mode. you can also do this by pressing and holding PLAY > on the front of the unit for more than 5 seconds, still watch for the p scan indicator to go off. this works best when the unit is connected directly to the television.
