We have a Whirlpool gas range model SF379LEKS that was purchased new in 2004. The oven heats up at first but then stops heating, even though the display says it's still on. There are no error codes. ...

Hi

This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

My husband sprayed the non-fume Easy-Off oven spray into our KitchenAid self-cleaning oven. Then turned IT ON TO CLEAN! It was on for about 1/2 hour. There are instructions all over the can NOT to turn...

The best thing to do is with a cold oven, go ahead and use the Easy-Off non fume again and wait 2 hours. This should remove the original grease as well as the left over Easy Off from the 1st application.

Is there an easy way to clean the vent slots right behind the oven handle

Spray Easyoff Oven Cleaner and let sit for about ten minutes. Tightly roll a paper towel to make sort of a point and clean out the slots. Use clean paper towels a needed for best results. Unfortunately, the only other way to thoroughly clean out these slots is to take the door panel apart. This is not too difficult but still requires a little extra time. By the way, be careful about breathing allot of the Easyoff fumes and be sure to use latex gloves to avoid skin contact, it's strong stuff.

The lock will not release after cleaning

This is GE's trouble shooting advise:

Range - Oven Door Won't Unlock After Self Clean

The Oven Door has been Locked Accidentally:

  • If no food or utensils are in oven, put it into a short self-clean cycle (1-2 hours).

  • If there is food in the oven, let the oven cool to room temperature and try to unlatch the door.

  • With electronic ranges there is a small chance that turning the circuit breaker off for a few minutes and turning it back on can release the door. latch to the "off"

  • Note: Do not force the latch at anytime!

Door Will Not Unlock After Cleaning:

On models with mechanical latches:
  • Once the oven is cool after a self-clean cycle (approximately 30-90 minutes), slide the latch over to the left.(Some older models have a latch release button that must be pushed in while sliding the latch over.)
Note: Some models with oven Set and Temperature knobs must have those knobs set in the Clean position before the latch can be moved to the left. If your door won't unlock, try turning those knobs back to Clean, then slide the latch over.

If the above suggestions do not work try the following to unlock your door:
  1. Disconnect power to range for 30 seconds.
  2. Reconnect power and see if door will unlatch.
  3. If door does not unlatch, and you do have food in the oven, wait for oven to cool completely and try again. If it still will not open you will need service.
  4. If door does not unlatch, and you do not have food in the oven, set the oven up to clean for 1-2 hours.
  5. Wait approximately 30 minutes and try to unlock the door.
  6. If the door unlocks, the control has reset itself and there should not be any other problems.
  7. If the door will not unlock or if you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737 or schedule a service appointment on-line.
Note: Under no circumstances should you ever force the door or latch open.

Slow oven lighting....bakes for 20 minutes than stops heating

Hi, The oven should ignite within 20 to 30 seconds. The most common problem is that the ignitor gets weak and will not open the gas valve like it should. This would be my first part to change.

I had the same problem. Hold down any button for 1 minute. That should reset the memory.

NEFF OVEN PROBLEM - SMOKE AND FUMES COMING OUT OF OVEN

Take the cover off that is surrounding the fan and you will probably find food or something there or on the fan blades. If it is not a food smell, then there is probably some wiring that is burning. I suspect that there is food behind the housing of the fan.

The pilot light for the oven went out.

Relighting Your Furnace's Pilot Light

furnace1.jpg - Turn off the gas at the main valve at your utility box - Wait five to ten minutes for gas fumes to waft away - Get a long match—yes, a fireplace match, not a standard match - Set the gas valve on your furnace to "pilot" - Press the red button as you hold the match to the pilot valve - Keep pressing the red button for 30-60 seconds so the pilot can heat the thermocouple. Release the button and see if the pilot remains lit - If pilot goes out, wait five to ten minutes and repeat the process - Once the pilot stays lit, turn the main gas valve back on - If the pilot light continues to go out, call a technician, who may need to adjust or replace your thermocouple or adjust your pilot
