You'll need to go to your email through a browser (gmail.com or whatever you use), go to "Settings" or "Preferences" and the go to SMTP/IMAP Settings. From there it will give you instructions how to setup outlook or any other email client to work.

You have to write the full email address for signing in. For example if your yahoo e-mail address is [email protected] then if you use abcd to sign into messenger then you will get errors. Use the full e-mail id to sign in.
