Setting your DVD player to be region free is a daunting task.
The easier way to go about this is to download ANYDVD, http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
Rip the DVD to your computer and Re-burn with the correct region code.

How do you get higher than 480p resolution on playback?

Hi Chuck, I copied this from the MWD7006 manual - I hope it helps.

If your TV is compatible with 525p (480p) progressive scanning and you want to enjoy that high quality picture, you must use Component Video cable connection and progressive scanning mode.

To set the mode, set "PROGRESSIVE" to "ON" in SETUP menu, so that the "P-SCAN" indicator on the front panel lights up.

When "PROGRESSIVE" is "ON", video signals from the unit's VIDEO OUT and S-VIDEO OUT jacks will be distorted or not be output at all.

If your TV is not compatible with progressive scanning, use this unit in interlace mode and set "PROGRESSIVE" to "OFF" either in SETUP menu, or by pressing and holding [PLAY B] on the front of the unit for more than 5 seconds, so that the "P-SCAN" indicator on the front panel lights off.

Region free code for Philips Magnavox MWR20V6

Not possible on this product. You need to have a special software hack to get that type of region free operation. The web lists a website in england that says they can do it. I cannot verify this claim. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

Not able to play region 2 dvds

With remote control and player stopped,
press setup, vol+, vol-, vol+, vol-
Use arrow keys to select region 1-6 or 255 for all region.
Numbers appear on TV screen.
Press setup again to save and exit

Try this to make it multiregion. It should work.

I bought a DVD from England and I would like to play it on an American DVD player or computer. Any help?

http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free-lite.htm

http://www.dvd43.com/

These programs overide the region feature of DVD's on computers so you can watch them. The second one is free but the top one is not though. It is also possible to change the region of the actual drive on your computer but if its for only one DVD then i don't suggest trying to do that as the drive will lock the region after a few region changes. i think the program option would be best for you. Sorry i couldn't help with the Magnavox apparently this player is actually a rebranded Funai and the resources to hack it are not available yet.
