Hi,
The best way is to just place a small amount... like 5 lb in the hopper...start with it barely open and see how far you get,,, then compute from there what you need...
The settings they give you are guesamates at best and are often set to place too much... why not??? they are selling you a product!!

I am sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing with your lawn. This type of damage can sometimes be minimized by watering 1/2 inch every 3 days if rain is not expected. We suggest you follow this program for the next 4 weeks if you do not receive sufficient rainfall. For more information, please give Scotts a call at 800-543-8873, and we will be happy to help.

If the product you are planning on applying has a spreader setting for a Scotts AccuGreen, or specifically for the AccuGreen 3000; you can use that recommendation in your Turf Builder Classic Drop Spreader. If they do not have a suggested spreader setting for the Accugreen, or Accugreen 3000 settings then this question would best be answered by calling Scotts directly @ 1-800-543-8873. One of our associates would be happy to assist you further.

Call Scotts direct the number is on the back of the bag. I just got off the phone with a very helpful customer service person named Cory, scotts has a calibration tool you can purchase and the correct setting the gave me was 6. Although I used 53/4 when I applied the Turfbuilder with Halts and ran out of product before lawn was covered. She suggested using a 41/2. She was also concerned that I may have put down too much product as it could damage the lawn. Hope this helps.
