SOURCE: error code IF or 1F not making ice model #795,77562... Sears/LG

You posted under an incorrect model number, so can only give general info. IF is a code for ice room fan. It is a fan located in a plastic box in the upper left hand corner of the freezer. The IF code shows up if the control board does not get a feedback signal from the fan telling the control board that the fan is running. I'd check to see if there is some ice blocking the fan blade. If that is not the case, you will need a meter to do further diagnostics to find out if your problem is with the fan motor or the control board. (note: when you turn the icemaker off, the fan will no longer blow cold air into the ice room, and all the ice will melt. Also, when the icemaker bin is full, the same basic thing can happen. Steady use of ice or dumping the bin will prevent ice from melting in bin.) The fan runs on 12 to 16 volts DC (variable speed), and the feed back signal is about 4.5 volts DC.

SOURCE: Bottom Freezer has ice built up

Possibly the defrost element is faulty, this is located behind a cover in the back of the freezer compartment and is attached to the fins of the evaporator. It also has a defrost limit thermostat which could also be the problem. I presume that the fan is working after you have defrosted the unit?

SOURCE: My LG bottom freezer, french door evaporator fan

Defrost heaters are not coming on. Check with multi meter..is it frost, or ice freezing under the fan-blades. That my friend is a blocked drain hole. Otherwise ohm out defrost heater should read 30to69 ohms of resistance. Timer may be stuck, or a hi-temp safety switch is not closing (a small disc at the top of the coils) when it comes out of defrost. Carweful with that gun, Jim! Too much heat warps all that chinese plastic. Chris in bigbEar

SOURCE: Roaring sound

I have had the same issues. I have owned my LFX25960 for 18 months. All the cooling, noise, and condensation problems are related to 2 fans. One for the freezer/refrigerator compartments and One for the Ice Maker. The fans, apparently, are not sufficient to move enough air through the coils located behind a plastic panel in the freezer compartment. The part numbers for my fans are 1. Ice Maker 4681JB1029E and Refrig/Freezer 4681JK1004E. It is not impossible, but fairly difficult to replace them yourself. You have to remove the large slide out freezer drawer and glides. Then work the back freezer panel loose from the bottom. Be careful not to break it. It is plastic.
Routine maintenance: Pull the refrig out from the wall and blow-out the coils and fan located on the lower right rear. You might find it easier to do this by removing the cover on the lower, back of the refrig.

Why is my LG LFX25980ST is not cooling any more?

Hi John,

are all the lights on??
if yes, check for fan fuctionality and ice build up inside the freezer portion if freezer is warm, then either the compressor electronics or your cold control could be bad. Also the LG fridges have some issues with coil leaking.

so first look at that and if is warm try to check if the compressor works.

hope this helps!

LG LFX25980ST REFRIGERATOR W/BOTTOM FREEZER SHOWS MESSAGE ON DISPLAY ER IF WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

The control is not seeing a feedback signal from the ice room fan. (the fan inside the freezer which pushes cold air up to the in door icemaker) It is probably blocked with a build up of ice or frost, preventing the fan blade from turning.

I have a LG refrigerator LFX25980n with FF failure, how to fix?

Is the freezer cold, but the refrigerator part is not cold?

If so, "FF" probably means fan failure. The fan which moves cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator is not working properly. The fix is to replace this fan.
