Error 09,038,46: 5750

We asked this printer to clean itself since it was creating a 1/4" line on the documents when it locked up with this error. The Xerox website was no help. We emptied the waste tray as they described, although the waste tray wasn't easy to get out. Any ideas? This printer is only 4 months old.

Yeah. That code means the black ink stick did not advance downward in the ink loader. Look in that area,either the block twisted or one cracked causing the block not to advance downward into the proper position. If you need to remove them and reload them, take a screw, like a drywall screw and twist it into the ink stick and remove it.
If you somehow installed an ink stick from a different model phaser printer it would have a different shape and not actuate the switch at the bottom of the loader.
Also, if your having a light stripe problem, call Xerox Phaser support at 1-800-835-6100. Have your serial number handy. You have a 1 YEAR on site repair warranty on that product. So call them if need and they will send someone to service it free of charge.
