I am currently using a wired Netgear RP614v4 Web Safe Router. I am thinking about purchasing a HTC smart phone that has WiFi connection. Would it be possible to purchase the WN802T v2 and plug it into one of the RP614 spare ports to give me a wired and wireless internet connection. I will only use the wireless for the smart phone and any new computer purchasers. The RP614 works perfect but a friend suggested I may be able to purchase wireless that simply plugged into my existing router. Hope you can help. Yours Sincerely Oran Harper

Yes you can piggyback off of your current router without any repercussions however it seems a bit un-necessary and a waste of power consumption (however minor it is) the WN802T also has the ability to wire itself to your desktop and are still behind a firewall equally as safe as the Netgear if not more so...

How do I transfer my pictures from my HTC phone to my Laptop?

Maybe your USB cable is damaged. Try to use WiFi connection, download the app (PS PC suite WiFi explorer) in Google play then connect your laptop and HTC phone to the same WiFi router or use tethering from your mobile phone. Its a web based explorer its very easy to use just follow the simple instructions from the app.

Netgear rp614v4 as a switch

This router acts like a switch automatically, you can converse between ports on the same LAN connections without any setup.

They all need to have the same network setup, the same gateway address and DHCP setup.

If you are not accessing the internet that's all you need.

See manual http://downloads.netgear.com/pub/netgear/files/RP614v4_RM_12Jun08.pdf

Router problem. unable to connect wirelessly

This is usually up address conflict. You will have to assign the wifi or lap top to different IP addresses. You have to refer to the modem manufacturers instructions or search on net / YouTube how to do this. It's too detailed to do it here I think.

My phone does not connect to the wifi from the netgear mr8142v2 but this phone has connected to 5 other wifi networks. How do I get this to work?

Hi!

If it was working before, you only need to clear or delete the current wifi profile on your phone for the netgear router and just create a new wifi profile. Make sure to enter the corrent Wireless Settings specially the Security Key. It is case sensitive, sometimes that's the only problem why you cannot connect. You are typing an incorrect network key. You can also try to change the channel that the netgear is using. Power cycle can help you also. Just unplug the power on the back of your router for 30 seconds then try again.

I don't know how to connect my second laptop to the netgear router to get internet service.

Go to the first pc that is already connected. Right click your connection and note the status/advanced information, find the gateway IP address. Open a web browser and login to your netgear router. NetGear default is admin and password.

Now go to the wireless setup, note the ssid or name of your wifi network, also note the security encryption and phrase you are using. If you don't remember you can set it again there and save but then you will need to reconnect to it, if all else fails use a data cable and plug directly up to the router to manage it.

Once you know your wifi name and security key you setup, go to pc 2 and use the wireless utility scan or refresh you should see the name of your wifi network, click join to connect, it will challange you for the password. It if doesn't then all of your neighbors can use your internet and access your computers. Need to be sure to secure your wifi signal by managing it via the web management using your web browser.

Sir ,
You can go with following steps:-
1)If you are using RP614v4 then what you can do is to simply upgrading the firmware of the product by going to the home page link:-

3)The in the home page of the product you will find four tabs kb/faq's , documentation , downloads and forum topics .
4)Left Click on Documentation and select the latest firmware version in this case it would be:-version 1.1.2
