If you have a small USB cord that is really small on one end & big in the other, hook it up in one of the USB ports in your computer. Place the small end of the USB cord into the really small slot where you put the batteries in.

You should have heard you copmuter make a sound, Then your MP3 player should be lit up around the pause/play button.

Open my computer, Removable disk F ,Then open the drive on disc F ( which is your mp3 player )

then you have a new window open, you should be able to just drag the music files into the new window which will go directly onto your mp3 player

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

SOURCE: My Sansa Shaker wont take the music.

check the file types from you music the shaker only plays MP3 and PCM WAV  file types. You may have WMA (if u used windows media player) which will not play on the shaker  (i had this same ploblem btw) you can easly find free music file converter software to change these files to mp3 or wav types (which i did), or you could rerip to songs from a cd and tell the windows media player to rip the files as mp3 types instead of the default wma format  from the windows media player widow :
tools >> options >> Rip Music >> under format select mp3 (theres a wav option but i used the mp3 option to be safe)
do not use the sync feature it will automatically convert your files to to wma (why? i dont know) instead copy the files directly from the folder that contains them :
right click the file you need to put on the player select open file location drag and drop to the player (or copy/paste if you want).
hope this helped =P

Replaced SD card now Shaker won't play

Hi Cathi!

Few things you need to know about Sansa Shaker and the SD card:
  1. The Sansa Shaker DOES NOT support SDHC memory cards. Only regular SD cards are supported.
  2. Maximum capacity for supported SD cards - 2GB!
  3. Any SD card which doesn't meet the requirement above might cause the problem you encounter. REPLACE the card with a supported one - SD card with up to 2GB in capacity.
  4. No software/data is stored or needed to be on the memory card - apart from your music files.
  5. MP3 file type is fully supported by Sansa Shaker.
Regards,
Pelu.

Sansa mp3 shaker

First, don't plug the shaker into the computer, go get an SD card reader available pretty much anywhere, I use a Targus reader that turns an SD card into a USB thumb drive, before I got it (it was $8.88 at wallyworld(Wal*Mart)) I used a multimedia reader.

First thing you do, format the card, and make sure the MP3 files you put on the card are at least 128bit, Constant Bit Rate (CBR) [DO NOT USE VBR, IT WILL CRASH THE PLAYER], High Quality, Stereo, Original.

You can get these settings with the LAME encoder that adds on to AudioGrabber when you rip a disc. (Both AG and LAME are FREEWARE)

I have not ever had my shaker connected to my computer(s), just the cards, and I use mine daily at work to keep me sane, and I switch the cards a lot.

I do hope this helps!

Sansa Shaker stopped working

Hello there. i hope i am not too late with my solution. The sansa shaker has acted like yours is some numerous times but the solution can be as simple as ever. Try replacing the battery with a brand new one. However if this solution does not work simply take it back to the place you bought it with the slip and tell them your problem... they will probably give you a new one.

Sansa Shaker

You should not use a program to manage your music on the Sansa Shaker. Just use My Computer to manually drag & drop files onto the device. Also, you can format the device thru My Computer, right click on the device and select format, this will erase everything on the device. Best of Luck
