Does this problem (internet status off) happen even when you are not using x-lite?

It's very unlikely that it's the software disturbing the connection. I suspect your VoIP calls are interrupted because the connection is dropping, and not the contrary.

yes, some times happen if use a the regular phone
but the issues that when i use skype, it works normaly,..
sometime the voip with x-lite call stays for 2 mn and other for 9 mn max...do u think that maybe from the ISP has block the voip ?
    thanks again

That is unlikely, but it's worth investigating on that side. Call the ISP hotline to get the answer.

It could also be linked to the quality of your phone line. Make some tests to confirm/infirm that hypothesis. Go to the command prompt and run some ping tests on websites like www.google.com or www.yahoo.com and look out for packets loss. It will give you some information about the quality of your internet connection.

I don't know the mechanics of x-lite, so I cannot state about it's use of your bandwidth. Calling your ISP about this issue might give you the right solution to your problem. I reiterate this : it's really weird that a software causes your modem to drop it's connection, but curious as it it, it might be possible.

If possible, try to modify the MTU settings of your modem/router, this might help.

I have a siemens 4200 adsl modem i had a net gear modem before and that was not working with wireless internet and now this modem wont let me connect wireless either only with the ethernet cabel. help!

Hello Mate,
the siemens speedstream 4200 is a DSL modem/Router which doesn't have wireless connection. So even tough if you have a computer equiped with a wireless adapter, you will not be able to connect wirelessly because the siemens 4200 doesn't act as wireless access point.
You may need next time to check first if the modem/router to buy support wireless (wifi g or n) and make sure that it's not only a modem, it should be also a router.
i attached here some references for you from the top brands:
1. Linksys DSL modem/Router with wireless N: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/MEA/en/products/WAG120N
2. Linksys DSL modem/Router with Wireless G: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/ANZ/en/products/WAG54G
You can find other brands as Dlink, Netgear ...

I have been getting terrible download speeds. I am with telus and there cheapest plan offers speeds of a little over 200 kbps. I am getting about 60. Is this the router or them?

Hi! your modem is a dlink dsl 300, if the modem is connected directly to your computer and you are only getting a speed of 60kbps..there is a chance that there is a problem with the modem.
this is the feature of ur modem:
Features

  • ANSI T1.413 issue 2 (Full rate DMT over analog POTS)
  • G.dmt (ITU-T G.992.1)
  • G.lite (ITU-T G.992.2)
  • G.hs (ITU-T G.994.1)
  • G.lite ADSL: Downstream data rate up to 1.5Mbps. Upstream data rate up to 512Kbps.
  • G.dmt: Downstream data rate up to 8Mbps. Upstream data rate up to 864Kbps
  • Supports G.hs, a handshaking protocol at start-up to negotiate and identify the operating mode for the DSL
  • Supports a wide range of DSLAM's for inter-operability
  • Complies to the T1.413 issue 2 standard (includes cable gauges like 24AWG (0.5mm) and 26AWG (0.4mm))
  • RFC 1483 IP over ATM
  • RFC 1483 Ethernet over ATM
  • Supports bridging/DHCP, classical IP over ATM, PPP over ATM, and Embedded PPP over Ethernet
  • 1 RJ-11 port for ADSL connection
  • 1 RJ-45 port for 10 BaseT Ethernet LAN connection
  • 1 Console (RS-232/DB9) port for local configuration
  • SNMP management agent base MIB-enables other processes to provide statistics and other information to remote management applications
  • TFTP : The built-in Trivial File Transfer protocol provides firmware upgrade and configuration backup and restore
  • Telnet provisioning
I this modem is supplied by telus you have to inform them about it so that they can replace this modem right away... and this is a discontinued product from dlink.

DSL loses signal during VOIP call.

hi,

i worked for verizon for two years and I encounter this problem many times,to tell you honestly, its not with you internet connection since if you'll notice, while you are connected to the internet and you make a call or call someone, its interrupted... Obviously, its the phone itslelf, the signal comng from the phone is different from the signal of the internet...thats the reason why you need a modem to convert the signal coming from the phone line to make it work for internet,,,what I suggest is you change the DSL plan from the Dry Loop to the regular dsl with the phone...

thanks and God Bless

Using a ppoe connection to a DI-524 is it necessary to put a modem in line?

DSL connection:

Wireless router

Yes, you can use wireless router with the modem. I guess the actiontech DSl router that you have is also Wireless one. If so, you can use just the DSL router for wireless connection. If you really want to use Dlink router with it, Connect the ( WAN port ) of the Dlink router to the ( LAN Port ) of the Action tech modem [ modem(LAN)-->Dlink(WAN) ]. Once you do this connection, better to do power cycle ( unplug the pwr to the dlink first, then, disconnect the pwr to action tech - wait 1min and plug the pwr to modem, wait for DSL light to be solid , then put the pwr back to dlink ). Make sure DSL light on the modem solid, internet light & WLAN light on the link glowing.
- Make Hardwire connection between the computer to Dlink and check the ip address on the computer whether it acquires the ip address from Dlink and then check the internet connection on the computer, it has to work. if computer not getting ip from dlink, try restarting computer.
- If hardwire connection on the dlink works fine and check the wireless connection.

For wireless configuration or assistance you may check this link:

please feel free to ask, if you have any more assistance.
