Have you tried to jump across the solenoid? It could be different things causing your problem. It could be a broken wire, the switch, the solenoid or even as simple as a blown fuse. What have you tried?

1. Check battery connections are clean and tight
2. Check the battery is FULLY charged, test with a car battery and jump leads to see if engine will start OK.
3. If it still won't start then you will need to check the starter solenoid with a voltmeter - this will also tell you if the ignition switch is working OK.
4. Still no luck? Then you need to check the starter motor.

check your 20AMP fuse, left side, tucked up in alongside the engine housing...

easy way to remember is the '-' or "neg" post of the battery goes to the wire that goes to the frame or engine block. The other post (usually red) goes to the start solenoid.

Try the easiest things first.

1) jump start with your automobile

2) check to see if starter is free
a) *with your hand, turn the flywheel screen on top of the engine
b) connect the jumper wire to the cable post (positive or red cable)
connect the negative to the battery
*NOTE: many times the starter gear can become locked into the flywheel, and the battery is not able to overcome, and you will hear a click from the solenoid.

3) If #2 works, then replace the solenoid

Does the engine turn over when you turn the key. If it does then it is mostly not getting fuel past the carb into the engine. If it does not turn over then it could be the switch or solenoid but it could also be a problem in your wiring system or a safety switch which is interrupting the ignition.

Locate the red wire on your battery and trace it to your starter solenoid. There normally is another smaller red wire from the starter solenoid that is connected to the equipment's fuse. Check if fuse is okay by visual means or with a multimeter (set on resistance scale). If fuse is okay, check red wire from battery to the fuse for continuity. Good luck.

I have a Husqvarna YTH2348 that clicks when i try to start... I had the battery tested and changed the solenoid and still won't start. How do I check the starter????

Usually if all you hear is a clicking noise, it is the solenoid itself that has gone bad...if you can jump the solenoid and the mower turns over, it is the solenoid.
