First you have to do a bit of algebra. Algbra allows you to do the same thing to both sides of the equation and it will still be the same (equal).
lets first take the natural logrithm of each side (symbol is "ln" (that is lower case LN)). this is the "inverse of 'e' "
You can say:
ln(e^-5x) = ln (0.7658)
Then, since "ln" is the inverse of e, those two terms cancel and leave you only -5x on that side.
-5x = ln (0.7658)
Now you can divide both sides by -5 to get the x by itself.
-5x = ln (0.7658)
---- ------------
-5 -5
and that simplifies to...
x = ln (0.7658)
------------
-5
on one line, you can either do...
ln(0.7658) / -5 = answer.
